Preventing Repair?
« on: April 06, 2012, 10:08:33 AM »
I was wondering if there was some way to keep a unit from being repaired.

I know there is a cap set on engineers not assisting large projects that can be set, but I am not aware of anything like that for repair.

What has happened is I managed to capture a Mk IV ion in a border system so I am keeping it alive to help with my defenses, which include a fort nearby.

The Ion cannon took damage in the last attack and now the for is repairing it. The problem is that at 40+million of each resource, the fort is tanking my economy at -20,000 of both crystal and metal.

I've currently set the fort to low power mode, but that's a large chunk of my defences offline.

Is there some trick I'm missing or does this functionality not exist?

D.

edit: Actually, my perfect solution to this would be a repair cap where you can set "this unit only gets repaired at 1000m or c per second" type thing, but I know that's new code.

Can you move the fort out of repair range?

Also, I think the "don't assist large queues" logic works for engineers on repair values.  But that logic may not extend to forts.

Yeah, you want to adjust your value for 'don't assist large construction items'.  CTRLs menu, center column, last value.
... and then we'll have cake.

Don't Assist Large Projects default setting makes it so that Engies don't repair Mercs, so it does have some effect on repair.

Alright, thank you.

I'll look into it.

That reminds me, the assist cutoff still does not take into account that repairing is 10x cheaper than initial construction, right?

OK, I just duplicated this. Fortresses ignore the auto-assist cutoff. Have not tried MRSs yet.

I can give a save if you want, but this sounds like one for Mantis.
