Did I just hose myself?

I just decided I was ready to move on to tier 3 and did the last 2 missions to get there.  Then when I got back to the settlement, I discovered that I had a bunch of tier 2 orbs.  It turns out I apparently picked up a Tier 2 Diluter enchantment not long beforehand.

So now I'm not going to be able to upgrade many spells past level 2?  Unless I find a Tier 3 Diluter and use it on the higher tier missions?  Damn.

You shouldn't be completely hosed; I was able to beat the Overlord with only three T5 spells (Ball Lightning, Forest Rage and some third spell I barely used). Just choose wisely.

Did you equip it, or just pick it up?  If it's not equipped it should absolutely no impact.

I just picked it up - it wasn't equipped.  That's great news - I didn't realize the diluter it had to be equipped.  I had been sure I was very low on tier 2 orbs, so when I saw I had a whole bunch of those, and far less tier 3 ones than I expected, I assumed that's what happened.

Have you already done some missions that were supposed to give tier 3 orbs?  Did they give tier 2 instead (or, at least, you did not get tier 3 orbs)?

It's all OK - my fault.  I had just mis-estimated how many tier 2 and tier 3 orbs I had, and when the count didn't match and I saw the diluter enchant, I jumped to that conclusion.  But looking at how many I've actually used and still have remaining, it's all correct.  Thanks!
