S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2 Frozen, Dev Team moves to "Survarium"
(1/1)

So yeah, I was really captured by the S.T.A.L.K.E.R. series and was rather hopeful that 2 would come out, but it looks like the company holding the IP wouldn't let the ex-GSC development team pick it up...for whatever reason that could be. So they decided to just work on a game called "Survarium", a free-to-play, MMO FPS. Talk about a double kidney shot in the morning. I wonder what the company with the original IP was thinking anyway?

I think suffice it to say, I have no hopes of this game going anywhere good. To go from a single-player to a MMO game is going to be rough no matter what. And while the development team is good, I have some doubts they are that good. And it'll be years before they're finished too so yeah....disappointing. Its an ambitious game, but almost too ambitious for an MMO. If they succeed, it would be great, but....that's the key. IF.

Exactly my thoughts after watching that video. MMO market is VERY hard to break into. I'd even go as far as to say that it's oversaturated. And without a doubt none of those guy have worked on MMOs that shipped. Forget it.
But hey, it's the guys who made stalker, so if it really comes out as a F2P MMO I will definitely give it a shot.
Moonshine Fox:
They'd have to do something spectacular and fresh in order to even be noticed in the MMO market. From the sounds of it, it sounds like they're going down the beaten path of the same old crap as always. Hey, WoW is doing that, and they're bleeding faster than a virgin in vampire town.
