So I got A Valley Without Wind last week and thought I was hooked until I learned about AI War via the shared wiki. Woah. How did I miss this game??

I just finished my first game (7 hours) and am beginning to understand the wiki and all the terms. Just thought I'd say hi and that I'm quite impressed with both of these games!

x4000:
Cheers!  That is seriously awesome to hear on both counts. :)

We're pretty fond of both games ourselves, so we're always particularly tickled when someone likes both.  They're pretty different!  ;D

keith.lamothe:
Very glad to hear you're enjoying them :)

yeah I often have plans for what games I want to play. I want to play Titan Quest, Killing Floor, Dwarf fortress, about a dozen of wii games, but in the end I always seem to end up with AI war lol. It's addictive like that :P
Unfortunately this game is kind of easy to miss :( I had never heard about AI war until I found it while randomly searching for space games on Steam, more than a year after initial release. I'm glad I did find it though.

Second that, I could have had months of practice by now.
I found this game through a few post on other forums but it seems it did get quite good reviews all over the place so no idea why it remained relatively obscure.
It certainly deservers far more publicity.

I had totally given up on RTS games: they are mostly spam- and clickfests or always winnable using a few select strategies or units.
This game packs a huge amount of innovative ideas and every game mechanic fits in really well.
I don't even miss player vs player games: why bother if you can play against a truly EVIL computer.
With the new customizations at the start of the game (another great update) you can even choose how you're gonna get killed this time.
(some of the options/plots should have a "this is lethal" warning label though or go straight through to the losing screen)
