AI Data Center
« on: July 13, 2012, 03:36:05 AM »
Hey all I'm new to the forums but i'm a big fan of both AI Wars and AVWW. I would like to inform the whole AI War community about a project I'm working on for our game. The name of the project is AI Data Center. I won't bore you with all the information here, but I will say that it is a companion program for the game. For more information please visit my site at (new website in the works)

Some more info on the program would be great. Like what it's supposed to do. ;)

Q: What can I use it for?
Quote
A:  Have you ever made a map in AI War and then the next day decide to make a new one? As we all know AI War will save only the last map seed. Enter AI Data Center, with it you can enter the data to make a map and then save it to your pc for when you would like to make the map again. Also if your like me you sometime would like your planets to have names you can say. Again AI War will let you rename your planets using a text file they have included with the game. This is a good thing. But what if you want to change the names? You have to look for the file in the game folder and then open and manually edit the file. This can take a long time, especially if you are making a file for 120 planets. Again enter AI Data Center, you can rename your planets automatically(and then some).

To be honest, it's a nice idea but the first function could be easily done with pencil and paper or a word document.

I'm not exactly clear what you mean by the renaming planets function. Essentially what I'm understanding is that it will automatically rename the planets from a game that you've already started? Presumably based on altplanetnames.txt?

Thanks Coppermantis. As for the renaming part all i'm going to say is it will use altplanetnames.txt As for pencil and paper, yes you can do that but paper can get lost over time.

Thanks for the news. I'm going to have to rebuild the site as a whole again because of the hack. So until I do it is down. Check back here for an update as to when it will be up.

This is just an update about my project called AI Data Center. I have not forgot about it, I had to put it aside because of college classes. Now that I have my 2nd college degree, and a lot of free time on my hands till I find a job, I'm going to pick it up again. For starts I'm going to completely rebuild the program in C++ and not VB.Net. But doing this will make it run better and I will have more room for adding in new stuff. After I get a fair amount of work done on it I will make a new site and update the opening post with the new site. So hang in there.
