It's quite an interesting game--would like to see how this develops, RCIX!

Good luck developer!

Hi,
I'm interested in starting the development of games (I've already used Blender 3D), and XNA is free, which I would like to use.But is it also free to sell the games you've made, or do you need a "premium membership" to do so?Can anyone please tell me?Thanks.

To sell on the PC, you don't need anything (other than .NET and the XNA redistributable of course).  For selling on the XBox though, you have to pay for the membership :)

Well, and also the legal fees and registrations for selling stuff. And you'll probably want to copyright your work.

You don't technically have to register anything legally if you want to sell it as an individual.  If you want to incorporate a company or partnership or whatever, then of course you have to pay.

In terms of copyright, you get a certain amount of protection without officially having to file anything in the US.  It's trademarks that you'd need to file for, and that's less of a worry unless you're popular enough that you actually are at risk there.  You can't copyright or trademark gameplay, so it's just a matter of your literal code and art and such (which is protected even without filing), and then the particular names of your games and company (which you'd have to file trademarks for).  The trademark filing is expensive, though.

Sorry for not updating on this, development is proceeding pretty slowly ::)

There are things in the works though, and I do have a plan to finish it up, so I hope I'll be able to post more later! :)

Our plans are to sell it as a downloadable PC game currently; I don't know whether we'll be doing any testing but if we do I'll definitely talk to you guys :)

And as for multiplayer, I can definitely say that won't be coming. It would be a bit much for a first time game developer (at least most of em anyway :))!
