Steam Achievements Question
« on: January 24, 2011, 11:28:39 PM »
If you have the Steam version of AI War installed and you run the game outside of the Steam interface (using the .exe in the steam apps folder) and earn an achievement, will that achievement register on Steam the next time you start the game via the steam console?

I've had Steam be a little overzealous with those achievements though. Sometimes it'll pop up the same one 4 or 5 times.

Are you *sure* it wasn't the same named achievement, but for example the 3 difficulty levels (ANY, 7+, 9+) ??

Yep!

Hold on there. It does not always do that, check my steam-profile and it will not show that I have completed a game. I can tell you I have  :-\

Some achievements apparently can be earned over and over and over again, where others can not (well, they show you you earned it, thats it). I've seen this in other games, but so far not in AIW.

There are some glitches in Steam itself that prevent some achievements from cross-applying some of the time.  But it's not consistent between players or achievements, and it spans beyond AI War or even indie titles in general.  I think that's what you're running into.  Unfortunately, all we can do is keep reporting all the achievements that for some reason Steam doesn't record, and hope that eventually they record them.  By and large they eventually seem to.

Sorry, wasnt really clear on that. It is not an issue with AIW, as you say, Steam is 'bugged' here.

Yep. What I mean is, I'll load up a game, it'll pop up some achievement that I got. I'll load it up again the next day and the same achievement will pop up again in Steam.
