another way of fixing this might be to make the spawn rate of dysons inversely proportional to the number of dysons currently in play... a point would be reached where they spawn at an equal or lower rate than they die, and sanity is saved
Bafflingly elegant! The spawn rate would however also have to be somewhat proportional to map size and/or AI difficulty.

I think the cap could be dynamic. Otherwise, it will be quite impossible to balance the dyson numbers against certain AI difficulties and number of planets. Thus, the balance should take into account number of planets, and then change dynamically as the game progresses, just a bit, to counter super high late game AIP.

There's actually nothing wrong with the Dyson in the latest betas. Further changes would be unnecessary.
