Evolve (Games Client)
« on: January 11, 2012, 01:24:57 PM »
Has anyone tried this out yet? It just launched open beta.

https://www.evolvehq.com/welcome

I'm installing it at the moment, supposedly it detects when you launch a game (that it supports) and adds it to your account with play times, achievements and the like. It makes me think of a broader steam (just without the digital distribution part) I think the in-game overlay allows for chat, video capture, picture capture too.

It supports Ai War, Tidalis and AVWW too.

I'll edit this post when I get a better feel for it.

Interesting, I've never heard of it -- so cool to see that it supports our stuff. :)

Yeah, I just added a link to the site in the main post. How could I forget that.

It seems you can form parties and then chat with the people in your parties in-game using the overlay. (text & voice)

Going to try launching AVWW when I have everything installed and see what happens.

Edit: It includes an in-game browser too. Seems much smoother than steams overlay...it's always giving me issues. Especially for Skyrim.

Edit2: If you want to join through this link:

You'll be automatically friended with me when you sign up. Not sure if there's any other benefits.

"Note that you may only link one Steam account at this time and that once you've linked it, you cannot unlink it. These restrictions may change in the future. "

Bad.

I got in the closed beta a while back. The chat client at that time wasn't very mature and it was still way too early in development for me to comfortably use, but when I did use it, it seemed to work pretty well. The ability to be able to VPN a "party" is a great idea.
