startup error
« on: August 22, 2009, 04:45:20 PM »
Hi Arcen Games,

I'm also getting an unhandled exception error on startup with the Stardock version.  Also, a strange half window appears asking me to unlock the full game, but I can't click on it.  I tried restarting, but it doesn't help.  My unhandled exceptions file is attached.  I'd appreciate any help.  It looks like a great game.   I'd love to be able to play it.

Hi John,

Thanks for your support of the game -- ilooking at the following line at the start of your UnhandledErrors.txt file, I see the following: "System.IO.FileNotFoundException: Could not load file or assembly 'System.Core, Version=3.5.0.0"

That means that, for whatever reason, the .NET Framework 3.5 was not installed by Impulse.  This happens occasionally with them, but pretty rarely from what I have seen.  You can easily download and install it yourself: Instructions and download links here

And once that's done, then you should be good to go assuming that it also installed SlimDX correctly (and that you already have DirectX 9.0c installed, which you probably did, or that it was installed by Impulse).  There's a thread about this at the Impulse forums, too

Thanks for the help.  Unfortunately, I can't get 3.5 to install using either of those methods (I'm getting an error partway through).  I've given up on the PC and tried installing on my laptop instead.  It's installed and is starting okay, but it's got me in trial mode and is asking for an unlock key.  I can't find such a key in the receipt or elsewhere.  Sorry if I'm missing something obvious here.

Right click the entry for AI War in Impulse and hit "View Registration".

If you bought AI war via Impulse Store your serial is in the order confirmation mail. Or visible via Via Registration from within the Impulse application.

You don't have to use impulse too, just get the full installer from the website here and use that, the serials work on every version
