AI Hunter/Killer

Do these ever appear in the game? I haven't found any reference to them other than the in game library.

I think... not, at this point.  For a while the AI was swapping them in for large numbers of ships, but then later we made carriers instead.  So these haven't found a home again in the revised game rules, to my recollection.

such a shame, I liked them. Hope you'll be able to find a new purpose for them in the future Chris

How terrible would it be to throw them into exo-waves? Hunter killers seem a reasonable threat to fallen spire ships.
Anything I suggest can be put on mantis by anyone else.

Heck, claim it as your own unique idea.

For I never will.

I'd be fine with that, if it's of interest to Keith.

I'm assuming that hunter-killers would be strong enough to be considered an "Exo-wave fleet leader", and also have a cost comparable to that of golems? I mean, they are pretty darn scary ships after all.

They're way, WAY worse than golems.  Just tested it.  They're also in for 5.017 ;)

They'll "cost" more than golems; the game doesn't restrict what can be a lead ship or a follower, that just happens naturally by virtue of the cost tiers and the way it spends part of the budget on the single largest ship it can get, and then divides the rest into much smaller pieces.  If those smaller pieces were still all larger than the largest available ship, it would wind up picking that largest one multiple times even in one battlegroup.  That's why that recently-posted-screenshot of a 106 hour FS game has 10 of said ship on it ;)

They've been somewhat tamed down, and they're fairly easy to kill if you focus-fire them with, well, everything :D

Oh, one more thing. Is the mothership still more powerfull than the hunter-killers? It seems to me that the mothership should be either the strongest or second (or possibly even the third) strongest individual unit in the game, with only the super-dreadnought or possibly the Mk. V hunter-killer getting close or possibly out-powering it.

Could someone please explain what a Hunter-Killer is and does? I want to know how much I should be afraid of 5.017.

Imagine something with the firepower that would make the avenger scream in fear, and the durability that even the armored golem envies...
