I'm actually impressed at the kind of reaction they were able to achieve with it :)

If you mean mine, then hah. I have a general zero-tolerance policy towards bad writers. I'd advocate throwing them all into the ocean; but I fear that would clog all the world's waterways.

I'm hoping that the next expansion for AI war brings some of these features, since no one else is doing it, apparently. I really want to wreck the galaxy. Especially need planetcrackers.
Just checking: primarily that would mean adding planetary civs, right?  We've already got fortresses in space and planetcracking.  Or do the planets not feel planet-y enough for nuking to qualify?  Or is it that you specifically want to crack the planets with the civs on them?

Planetcracking, having a planetcracker, would mean having the ability to actually blow up planets and presumably the life growing on them. It's a statement in a galaxy. It conveys meaning, has impact, awe-inspiring hellfire rained down on an entire civilization. As the earth is torn asunder, mountains crumble, oceans are vaporized, and the planet becomes space dust, scattering to all corners of the sector.

In short, it is made of cool.

What you have now is still cool, though.  :-)

Causing large celestial bodies to cease being large celestial bodies is also a pasttime of mine.  On a related note, you may enjoy this website: http://qntm.org/destroy

I think I'm still looking for a space game that is a sort of mix of Spore & Mass Effect except more open ended and sandbox like.

The majority of space games I've come across are strategy rts style games.

It would be interesting to come across a space game that placed more emphasis on the crew of a ship and doing ground missions, meeting new alien races and interacting with them.

<Think of that one star trek game...>

No, I've never played. I just heard about how it could be done...but I don't know if it is even playable because it is old, yet alone if it was good.

Economy Command Stations are for offense. Military Command Stations defense. Logistic stations are behind-the-line hybrids.

I'd really like to see another company make a serious attempt at something along the lines of Spore.

Although I'd like there be more options for the ability to make more humanoid aliens (like the asari for example, not them literally but I mean that level of humanoid-ness) along with more animal like aliens. Also perhaps the option to command your own ship like in Spore but be actually able to see inside the ship and control your crew. (I think it would be pretty neat to have crew members of different races that you discovered and made allies with)

Spore was a really great concept that has been treated very poorly by it's creators. :(

The problem with Spore was that the game had no teeth. Literally anything you did was perfectly fine. Choosing the best traits for your world or controlling evolution had 0 effect. Choices never mattered beyond the visual.
