Upgrading spells to Tier 2
« on: January 29, 2012, 01:02:56 AM »
Hi all,

I'm a new AVWW player, having a good time so far! I am struggling to upgrade my spells to tier 2. The reference says that vases should be in hallways and I've looked in many of them, but all I can find is clocks, tables and so on. Is there a particular kind of building, or time period, I should be looking in?

Also, I'm looking for charred amber, which is a mission reward. Can you tell before doing a mission what the reward will be, or must you just do the mission and hope for the desired reward?

Thanks!

I think you might have to unlock the things first before they start appearing in the world (for vases) and as missions (for the charred amber). I'll check it now actually..

Edit: Yep, to unlock Clay from Vases, you need to find a stash in a tier 2 "Townhouse" (guessing abandoned town?). To unlock charred amber missions you need to destroy all monsters in a Tier 2 desert. So basically do some missions until you've raised the enemy progress enough to set the areas to tier two, then go out unlocking  ;)

Thanks for the reply. I should have mentioned before that I have already done the tasks to unlock clay and charred amber, but still no vases appear.

I just noticed something else strange: I've unlocked iron ore and copper ore, and the reference information says that these will appear when the enemies are tier 3. However, I just found some iron and copper ores, and the enemies are only tier 2!

There are actually several types of vases, and they all have a different look to them... once we actually figure out why they aren't spawning in the game. ;)

tier 2 "Townhouse" (guessing abandoned town?).

I haven't found any townhouses! Would you know where they are?

edit : Thank you.

The townhouses are the brick houses in the abandoned town regions.  Hope that helps!

Is that the only place townhouses show up?  I only have two areas on my starting continent that have Abandoned Towns.  The first one had no townhouses, and the other one has the overlord.  I didn't make it far enough into the second one to see if there were any townhouses or not.  :-[

I also can't for the life of me find any townhouses. Only things I ever get in Abandoned Towns are Angled Houses and Modern Ruins. Checked all kinds of those at T2, nothing. Need help inlocking clay >.<
Oh yeah, and by the way

The following resources were previously only available in tier 2 and up, but are now available from tier 1 onward (assuming you have unlocked them):
Iron Ore, Earth Essence, Clay, Coral, Copper Ore, Sea Essence.
For clay the unlock itself requires T2, so does this even do anything? I don't understand.

It means you need to get to T2 before you can unlock it, but you'll get clay at T1 on the next continent.

Ah, okay, thanks. Still, no townhouses in sight. Request photo evidence of their existence!  :)

Glad to help! Perhaps the Clay requirement needs rethinking... It is, after all, theoretically possible to spawn a continent without townhouses (unless that's already specially handled?). Might as well make a Mantis ticket about it, I suppose.
