AI War Technical Support / Can CD Keys Be Redeemed/Activated on Desura?

So I've noticed that AI War is available for purchase through Desura. While I know the versatile CD Keys can be used in any copy of the game (including the demo, as provided from that service). However, I'd like to permanently, irrevocably attach it to my Desura account (bought the bundle from Steam, back when it was in absolute you're-a-cheapass-if-you-don't territory). Tried using the Keys on the gift activation page, but no dice. I get the feeling there's no in-place way to do this, so perhaps this thread would be better taken as a request for this capability.

...Man, my first post, and it's me being either OCD and/or a deeper cheapskate than I have been. Then again, I got it more for the soundtrack (beautiful), since I doubt I'll ever take the time to not-suck at the game.
