I tried to play MP with a friend and we've never been able to connect to each other. Ports are open/forwarded and I really don't know why we timed out all the time. We tried both directions.

So it would really be much better if we could just host a game and join via Steam friends system because that always works unless you sit behind a really tight firewall.
I buy my games on Steam only and please don't take it the wrong way, but I kinda expect games to use it. Don't mean to be rude, but you know... entitled customer and such :P.

So if it is somehow doable without too much work I'd really appreciate if that is put in later on, even if it is after release.

If you, Arcengames are not okay with me basically advertising my game here, just lock it and remove the links, I am fine with that, I'd like some feedback from people though.

I uploaded this game to Steam Workshop today, but it is not done yet!
It is a light version of what I am planning to release later with more ships, more backgrounds and more bosses!

In a nutshell, you fight evil ships that are coming at you and you level up while doing so! All 4 Levels ( limited atm ) you gain 1 perk point that you can spend.
Perks like:
  • 3 shots fired instead of 1
  • Base auto heal
  • More damage against bosses
  • and more
The twist is, that everytime you fail to hit an enemy, it deducts 1 from your multiplier. Shooting them raises your multiplier, except for bosses! So pure button mashers will have a bad time reaching a good score. If you even let an enemy slip past, he is gonna damage your base. If it explodes, you lose, no matter how much health you have. I designed this as a score attack in a robotron style.
There is also 1 additional ship with a different special weapon to unlock.

Game Development / Just started using VC++ 2012 Express...

.. and used <chrono> the first time (from the C++x11 standard). 
Finally no more need to wrap timing functions in xplatform games.
I didn't like QueryHighPerformanceCounter anyway.  :P Felt very clunky imho.
I know there are several libs out there like boost or SDL/SFML that provide wrappers, but I use OpenGL and use different libs to ensure XPlatform compability.
Using a pure C++ approach to the timing is really cool. 8)

AVWW Strategy And Stories / Journey to Perfection in Icy Areas

How do you guys deal with the random falling ice blocks? I think it is stupid but might there be a way around it?

That achievement requires you to get 30 upgrades for your Settlement.
I got 11 by now and I am doing a lot of missions to respawn new ones, but I think since I moved my world to Level 2 I am unable to find any more upgrades.
So how does this work? Do I have to kill the overlord and go into NG+ to get more? Do you keep the old ones?
Would be nice of anyone could shed some light.

And since I don't want to make a new topic about that question:
How often do you have to reroll to get the legendaries? At what level do they drop?

I am asking those questions because I try to 100% the achievements on Steam.

A Valley Without Wind 1 & 2 / I think my game broke... or so :D

I went through all this storm but I can't find the shelter I just built or the mission.
It is not my first one, so I wonder a bit about where it could be. I really looked everywhere.

Any hint? Or can I remove the windshelter somehow to have it recreated?

A Valley Without Wind 1 & 2 / I can finally play the game properly

I got the game on the day of steamrelease basically, or a few days after and always wondered how you upgrade your town.
With the latest update I finally got the necessary options in the menus and the drops required to upgrade.
So, the last Patch made the game playable at all for me.
Time for playing now I guess :D.

AI War / Hard to get into...

Hey.

I own Tidalis and AVWW from Arcen.
I already looked at AI War some time ago, but with the Demo, I was totally clueless what to do and how to win.
But many people say it is an awesome Tower Defense Game.
I can't justify putting 17€ into this when I don't know if I ever will be able to play it properly.
Don't know what to expect from this Thread, but I would really like to like it :D.
What should I do? :)
I am used to Tower Defense with Defense Grid though.

I would rather like to see a system where you can select a spell as primary for the mouse button when you press its number on the Keyboard.
Basically like Terraria.
