A Valley Without Wind 1 & 2 / Puzzle rooms, pyramids, and pacing
« on: April 06, 2012, 01:27:35 PM »
It seems like puzzle rooms are only in pyramids... if this is truly the case, I would suggest adding the chance to all buildings to add variety.  Also, can we have some more variety in terms of the puzzles?  The idea is great, but it just needs to be fleshed out a bit imo.

As for pyramids, I feel that the maze rooms should only be in stash rooms.  Too many of the rooms are huge mazes.. it just feels monotonous.  I would also love if doorways were a different color.. with the gravestones being green, it is very hard for me to find the doors after exploring.

On a separate note, I'd love if there was more of a push/motivation to move between tiers.  It is so easy to grind at tier 1, it makes me stubborn to move to tier 2.. and then it gets monotonous.. sure, I am doing it to myself, but there should also be a bit of a game push to not hang around indefinitely imo.

Also, does your stockpile carry over to the next continent?

Thanks!

I got an enchant that gives a powerslide ability but tells of no way to activate it...Any ideas?

I think graves should be removed.  They are far too frequent and add nothing.

How do you open chests I didn't realise this was possible? Also if conciousness shards are the remains of the people who didn't survive the cataclysm how did they end up in chests?

Destroy them.  It looks like shards come out, but nothing is labelled in the top right message box.

« on: April 04, 2012, 09:48:26 PM »
Thanks again for all the help lately.

1.  What is the point of graves?  I don't always pay attention but they seem to be all anonymous.  Am I missing something?

2.  Tiers in dungeons.  Does each level correspond with the same level in tier or does it scale up with the continent.  In other words, is level 1 always tier 1, 2 tier 2, or does it eventually become 2 on the first level, 3 on the next when you continent level increases?

3.  I was able to build 1 building.. the techzoolist or something, but I really see no benefit and it takes a ton of resources.. plus, continents seem to level so easily(5 missions), that it seems like a waste to even build buildings.  Again, what am I missing?

4.  Seems like it makes sense to stay on tier 1 to grind enchants.  Does this make sense?  It gets a bit boring, but I just figure it'd be most easy now.  Most enchants seem cruddy.. I have a 15% damage reduction, 10% detection deduction, and +5% light power.  I just got a new one that was the same, but 1 less light... It does continue to get better very slowly right?

5.  I turned on V-sync because of tearing, and it gets very hard to see the cursor in some environments, which makes aiming difficult.  Is there a way to make a different, larger icon?  Or some other way to see where you are aiming?  Aiming in the pyramids can be awful difficult right now.

Thanks!

A Valley Without Wind 1 & 2 / Re: Enchants based on Tier?

The main way to increase your character's strength is to get stronger spells. You do this by collecting the necessary crafting ingredients then crafting the new spells in the settlement.

All NPCs are on the same tier as you. You can rescue/unlock more by finding "Rescue NPC" missions in different region types (junkyard, abandoned town, etc.) throughout the game.

I meant strength as in carrying over from one continent to the next.

Well, what NPCs are considered the bronze age as opposed to other ages?  I unlocked the very first one. I could unlock the others just by finding the missions in other regions.. so I could do it all on the same tier then?

A general reply here.  I have at least 20 enchants now, 30 or more if you count multiples of the same type.  The best defense I have is -15% damage and -% to detection... What is detection?  This is main way to increase the strength of your guys from continent to continent right?

Also, you get enw guys to choose from when rescuing from missions.  I did a rescue mission and unlocked the bronze people.  I imagine the next level of people won't be able to be rescued until Tier 2?

Posted something about this on Mantis < http://www.arcengames.com/mantisbt/view.php?id=6990 > and we came up with a suggestion to change the unlock description to "....Note that this is referring to entire cave systems on the region map, not to individual rooms inside the first cave system.  Look inside rooms highlighted green on the dungeon map for entrances to lower cave systems."  Does that make sense to people?

Kind of.  I'd say to keep it even simpler.  "Some green rooms in the underground dungeons will lead you to lower levels of the dungeons."

Btw, currently tier 1 enemies are in the first level, level 2s in tier 2, etc.  When your continent moves to Tier 2, does this increase each level by 1 so that the first area of the dungeon is 2, then 3, then 4?

A Valley Without Wind 1 & 2 / Enchants based on Tier?
« on: April 02, 2012, 11:35:42 PM »
I was wondering, are the enchants you get based on tier?  In other words, do they get better as the content gets more difficult?  I have about 15 enchants and they are mostly all the same, but I haven't reached tier 2 yet...

Next question then.  It appeared to me that I was doing the same unlocks over and over.  In other words, kill 40 skeletons would show up as an achievement.. but it would happen again once I killed another 40(just made up that set for example).  What happens if you do the same one multiple times?

I'll have to look again to see if there is a list of ones you need to do to unlock the next set... I assume there is.

What are the points of the achievements like kill X of Y?

When a crafting material says LOCKED, does this mean that you can't access it even if you get to the area that is says has the items?

When something days to go 2 dungeons down or to reach depth 2, what do they mean?  I've been to the 2nd level from the surface in the dungeon and nothing in particular happens.

Thanks.

I have 100s of green upgrade stones, but havent tried using them yet.  The problem is that they are often in groups, with extra normal mobs, plus the uneven terrain that includes a vertical environment.  I will try the upgrade stones and see if that helps.  I also equippedthe light based spell, since that is what they are supposed to be weak to if i read them right.  As for my enchants, i just reached the one that speeds up spells by 40%.  Im avoiding missions because i dont want to hit tier 2 if i cant even kill these tier one guys.

13
I am still in Tier 1 on my first guy.  As soon as I get into the underground boss rooms, 1-3 black smoke bat looking creatures kill me in just a few hits.  Is this normal?  It is the only way to get to the underground veins that I need to get some level 2 spells.  What am I missing?

14
The light and bright green next to bright yellow for resource high/low chance to find resources is almost impossible for me to read, since I am colorblind.  Is there any chance it could be made at least dark green?
