I should have grabbed the botnet earlier... lost at 255 AIP... was playing too defensively. I should have grabbed and plunge earlier but the crossplanet attack took me out followed up with a 1000 AI wave to crush up what was left

I remembered the botnet golem was really OP. He can blow up a bunch of ships and turn them to FRD zombies that can be a nice buffer zone for defense last time I played coop with a buddy. We both had like 2 botnets each before there was a 100+ AIP penalty. I guess the penalty may be nice so I can just repair him to about 95% or something and leave him there and just grab him if situation demands it. My second favorite golem would be armored golem (20+ AIP ain't so bad to me). I like making him 1 v 1 a fortress xD the fortress lose and the golem wins. Its like a mobile fortress that's stronger.

Yeah, I got a scout starship but couldn't find the cloaked guardpost, so I pulled a decloaker in (was taking a little shot but I let some of my fleet ship soak up a little damage, found the cloaked guardpost and took them down which dealt with the eye). I remember not unlocking decloaker much but I unlocked them on this because the AIs were sending a lot of stealth ships.

So I did some guerilla warfare with my raid starships and took out all of the guard posts. Unfortunately, it said there's 2 guardposts left to kill it and all of them are destroyed and the AI won't die. :(

hmm concentric do look like the best type for defender mode considering its circularness and only one way entrances from the middle. Should I start with bonus ship also if I pick a middle and then some bonus ship station far about ready to be blown up? :p

AI War Defender Mode Strategy Discussion / So I just tried Defender Mode
« on: February 11, 2012, 09:46:13 PM »
I just tried defender mode again starting with 3 planets containing stealth battleship, shield bearers, and snipers. I set AI difficulty to 5 and 6 and did the plain old setup forcefields, tachyon, and gravitational turrets and continously adding turrets around the planets as much as my power can handle. I also control my fleet of ships from 1 planet to another depending on which swarm of AIs come first. They didn't take out any of my command stations until the part that I have already won the game.

I set the time to survive 1 hour.

The first time I tried it and set it to 30 minute with level 6 & 7 AIs, they came too swift too early and destroyed me.

Anyways, any advice on how one should set up defender mode?

AI War Strategy Discussion / Re: Starting with Multiple Homeworlds?

I'd mainly just want 1 or 2 bonus ships, that's why i was thinking about 2 HWs, I don't think I'll do multiple homeworlds unless I'm feeling suicidal :p. A lot of bonus ships but a lot to manage, 2 HWs should be fine?

AI War Strategy Discussion / Starting with Multiple Homeworlds?

Would anyone advise against or for starting the match with multiple homeworlds. I barely found out I can do this with the risk of the AI being much harder so I did a little test by selecting all the worlds that you can start with. You get a heavy resource boost, a lot of bonus ships, and science are racking up quickly from multiple science stations, plus a heavy energy boost. Well, usually I wouldn't want to have all that homeworlds, but I'm wondering if 2 is too much or best to pick just 1. Sometimes I just can't decide which bonus ships to take between 2 ships. Last time I played with my friend, I couldn't decide snipers or nanoswarm (kinda like those nanoswarms just setting it free roaming defense and spam them to enemy planets for harassing or snipers for sniping out my high value targets from far <special forces guard post, other guard posts, etc>), should I pick both next time?

AI War Strategy Discussion / Re: When To Upgrade What?

I see, but you gotta buy harvester twice :o one of each, I guess econ mark 2 would be the more worthier buy, should i upgrade that right when I capture a planet that has worthy economic values?

What is better overall for econ focus, econ mark II station or better harvesters?

I usually go with scout, fighters, and grav turret on the start last time. I upgrade forcefields along the way and get some raider starships, better turrets, engineers, and other stuff around the way.

When is it best to upgrade a Fortress and for upgrading turrets, what would you prefer most? Beam Turrets? Missile Turrets?

I'm just curious when I should upgrade what? From the start of the game I usually research Scout Drone Mark 2 and Fighters Mark 2. I'll later on get gravitational turrets and engineer mark 2 then focus on getting mark 3 for my fleet but I'm wondering, what is the best to research depending on what situation. I just don't want to screw up too much and want to know when is it best to research what?

Add me here: http://steamcommunity.com/id/phantomous/

I'm from the California, USA so I use Pacific Time.

I'll be up to play on weekends if I have no plans and if I can gather some people up and have no homework. Mostly will be busy with school on the weekdays but I should be available for weekends.

Kind of a new to this too but getting the hang of it.
