AI War / Re: Steam keys for Ancient Shadows
« on: May 08, 2013, 04:23:09 PM »
How do I add keys to Steam? Steam doesn't seem to notice I have all of Expansions installed and unlocked. I got a Steam Key for Ancient Shadows but I don't see anywhere to enter it in. (Zenith Remenant is the only expansion I got through Steam, I've gotten all the others through Arcen's store)

Edit: Never mind, I found out how. It's under the Game Menu, Activate a Product on Steam.

Sorry, once I did one letter of the alphabet, I had to do them all.

Almost, you still need one for the letter I.

Even better. I must have missed that change since the last time I played.

I believe it is after every fourth level, so at level 4, 8, 12, 16, and 20.

I think it would be great if knockback were changed a little to knock away enemies that are right on top of you as well as maybe what it does already. As it is now your only option in that situation is to jump around and hope to shake it off so you can hit it.

Got it installed now, thanks!

I can't get AVWW2 to install this update. I can download it but it downloads quickly and installs quickly but doesn't do anything as the game still comes up as .726 and tells me the beta update is available.

I'm definitely leaning away from this now, just FYI.  Improving the display of the equipment, including specifying just what the heck each one does before you pick it up, really seems to make a big difference.

I would be ok with the merc coin idea as stated in the first post of this thread. Equipment right now doesn't interest me that much but then again improving the display of the equipment might make them feel more tangible, which is something they lack for me at the moment.

Don't know about caves, the surfaces tiles have had impassable areas, jumps that are just a bit too high, ran into that twice out of maybe an hour with the game and two turns in. Don't know about the other things, I haven't run into them yet, a few of the monsters are hard, had to jump over several and run away haha, because they were faster on the trigger than i was, but that was not too big a deal.  :)

Ok, I'm a little concerned about these slices that are impassible, please send those to me if you run into them again. Not just Misery, but anyone.

Do you have any Feats yet, like Double or Triple Jump?

I've yet to come across a real impassible slice, obvious intended death traps not included, in any of my games. Invariably I've found that when I couldn't proceed forward it was because I didn't have the necessary Feat or Feats yet, be it Water Dash, Miniaturize, Double Jump, or Triple Jump or some combo thereof.

Most Feat-required spots are labeled with signs but not all of them are. I think I've come across a high jump that wasn't labeled before but I could have missed the sign as it was an outdoor chunk.

Miniaturize-required spots in Level-Up Towers need signs though, if they don't already, like the Skelebot Research Facilities do and a particularly mean low ceiling jump over a deep lava pool that I encountered once, also in a Level-Up Tower, could have also used a sign to warn me that one or more Feats would be needed to cross it.

Also I think Feats should get a tutorial explanation, or a more in-depth one, as I bumbled around as a new player unaware of their utility or importance for quite awhile until they were pointed out to me by other players on the forums. Even though I'm a Valley 1 veteran I didn't make the leap that such options were available as Valley 2 felt like a completely new game in enough ways that I made no assumptions about how it would play out.

After the wind generators are gone try sending your survivors over.

I have 3 survivors parked on one of them and 4 on the other but I don't have a mission option. The tooltip mentions a control panel but I never saw one unless the wind generator is standing in for them. I advanced a turn with survivors on one of them I think but it never said anything happened.

EDIT: Looks like I just needed to advance another turn as they are both destroyed now.

How do you do the Stratospheric Citadel mission?

I went through both of them and destroyed a wind generator at each of them but I never saw any Citadel entry point. Are they not implemented yet?

I have all four feats, including triple jump, I have the 5th mage class tier unlocked and I can make it to the Oblivion Crystal room, though obviously I can't enter yet because the Citadels are still up. Am I still missing something to get them to show up?

Well the miniature feat has to be activated on the map first, after that it can be used by double tapping down.

Debug info can be found by pressing f3. The info about which region and chunk it is can be found near the bottom of the window that opens.

Thanks, I got it to work, especially when I realized I was double tapping s instead. wasd is hard to shake once you accustomed to it for movement in other games.

@wyvern83: you can get the chunk and region ID from the debug info that pops up in-chunk when you press F3.  In my case the second to last line reads "Chunk: (some number) Region: (some other number)" followed by the dungeon and node ID.

Thanks Oralordos and Keith, I found the file names. Region_267, Chunk_164 (Dungeon 69, node 3)

With miniature I am able to continue on up the shaft so my apologies for any time spent on trying to fix it as it's apparent now that it wasn't impassable afterall.

I just acquired the miniature feat, I didn't know this was in the game. Does it actually work? And if so how? The one square passage that was holding me up would be passable, and I wouldn't need to have any fixed, if it indeed works.

EDIT: I found the debug info, I'll give your method a try I think.

If I'm waiting to get my world file fixed, to remove a impassable blockage, can I keep playing in that world or do I have to wait for it to get fixed?

If it's the later I will need to upload a updated copy of my world as I decided to continue playing, with the intent of returning to the blocked spot after it got fixed. However it occurred to me that the world file might be an evolving file, like it would be in Valley 1, rather than one where everything is generated at the start of the game.

Double and Triple jumps are Feats, not Perks.

You get the Feats from Research Facilities.

Thanks, I didn't know that. I got water dash but it's still useful for one of the hard spots I found.

@ tigersfan

I found another blockage in my new world, level up tower (11, -8). It's in the post-boss-fight shaft, I'm right below it if the world file loads you were I was.
