I think that's a nice tool for making games, I wonder if there's a free trial for that tools available on the web.

Actually, Torque 2D is not under MIT License:
https://github.com/GarageGames/Torque2D

And there is a free version of Game Maker:

There's no mouse control in the game play, because, as we've said, that's too hard to balance. With the vastly different experiences that M/K vs. Gamepad/K only give with this kind of game, there is no wy to balance for both.

Why doesn't the mouse work in (some) of the UI? Well, because eventually, the plan is to have it work in NONE of it (except for maybe the settings menu). It really is annoying to go back and forth in a game between control methods, so we're re-doing the UI so that it can function without the mouse.

What do you mean with balance? I play Games either in SP or with friends. They do not care much if I get a slight "advantage" with a mouse.
Using Mouse or Controller should never be a question of balance, but a question of choice.
Just let me do whatever aiming you guys intend with a mouse. That is all I want..

If you don't see it in your library, just restart Steam.
Then it shows up, because when Steam launches, it asks the server for changes with your licenses.

As I said, I use a F510 Controller, because I dislike the 360 either.. That is basically a PS3 Controller with XInput compatible button layout:

Other than that, I have said everything about it, that I need to say.

edit:
One more thing: Took me a while to figure out that I have to press "S" when the game starts to advance the dialog.

Not everyone uses an xbox controller, though.
Thats why the game displays keyboard letters when you use a keyboard... oO
Except when you're using a controller. If I had meant 'Not everyone uses controller, some use keyboard', I wouldn't have posted that, its a rather obvious thing to say.

Well then finally come to the 21st century and get a xinput controller. Having anything else is stupid anyway since many of your games won't work properly.
I have a Logitech F510. So it is not an XBOX Controller. But since it is xinput compatible, it uses the same button layout.
Those old dinput controllers are just holding up game development  and hindering streamlining, as shown in your complaint.

But when it comes to sales, not using xinput button images is gonna hurt the game in the long run. Because the majority of gamers uses a xbox/xinput controller.
That is a fact. So they really should put this in, there is no excuse for not having it. Also, vibration.

The game is not a twin-stick shooter. That is the reason why.
Maybe, but every time I aim up- or downwards, my character starts moving. Annoying².
And I wished it would be.

No, just put back the 360° shooting as it was before.  That was good. It was intuitive, flexible and dynamic.
This way it is too limited.

I also just played with a controller. The days of GP1 and GP2 are over. Please use xbox controller images and show them instead.
I used those in my game: http://sinnix.net/downloads/
They are CC-BY-SA and commercially usable.

Also, why using the same stick for aiming than you do for walking? Use the left stick for that!

I absolutely hate the controls, what did you do Arcengames?
I stopped playing after a few minutes, because I cannot get my head wrapped around them.
Why exactly am I not allowed to use the mouse anymore? The controls have always been the bright side of the game for me, compared with the ability to map all 5 mouse buttons. Yeah, I made a stupid suggestion about it first, but when I found out that you can map all mouse buttons to abilities, I loved it to death.
Now I just don't want to play. Why Q for aiming upwards? Or E for down? It is imho a pain in the ass.
I want my mouse controls back :( :( :(.

edit:
All 2 feedback threads on the game hub on steam say the same about it...

I tried to play MP with a friend and we've never been able to connect to each other. Ports are open/forwarded and I really don't know why we timed out all the time. We tried both directions.

So it would really be much better if we could just host a game and join via Steam friends system because that always works unless you sit behind a really tight firewall.
I buy my games on Steam only and please don't take it the wrong way, but I kinda expect games to use it. Don't mean to be rude, but you know... entitled customer and such :P.

So if it is somehow doable without too much work I'd really appreciate if that is put in later on, even if it is after release.

Don't mean to derail but AStats is a heavily moderated site for "serious" (please note: serious in a gamers term, not life..) achievement hunters like me and others.
And being high in that list does enhance sales..
Anyway, I was kidding, I want this game to be good and achievements come second :).

When it comes to Arcengames, I am not worried about a game having not enough achievements lol.
Make ALL unlocks in the game achievements, I dare you.... You need to beat Champions Online  :P.
