AI War / Re: XFire Support Is A Go (Mostly)!

Lol yeah, I didn't think so, I was just using the expression (if I'm to understand it correctly:) First I conquer Google (for example), then the world! That sort of thing.

Don't feel bad about telling me to take it easy once in a while either. I'm young still, I can take the punishment ;D

I like the new direction for the HUD, it adds a ton to the polish of the game. Next up, custom cursors.

If you used the zip files from wherever just extract the entire zip to Arcen games/AI War, or the equivalent for your machine, then you should get the prompts that say "Do you wish to overwrite this file?" then click yes to al.

You should also backup all your saves first, because I am nowhere near 100% on that.

Oh yeah I understand. I just thought that it was maybe a part of left over code or something that didn't get transferred over. Kind of like the coder updated the move command to use the new movement logic, but forgot about changing the attack move command.

Just for a counter point, if we are indeed looking at the same sprites, I found the Space Dock to be the most interesting one. It is actually part of why I bought this game, because I wanted to see more sprites of that nature.

AI War / Another bug, -maybe-

Alright, I don't want to become the guy who always thinks something is wrong, but hey, I'll go until I'm told to stop!

With the some of the lastest patches, the logic for the pathing has been changed so the ships don't all funnel into one pixel worth of space and then slowly find their spot outward in a circular pattern right?

Well it seems that if you just right click on an enemy ship the movement reverts to what it used to be. So when you right click an enemy ship to attack, all you ships go to the one pixel of space where the enemy is then fan out once they get there, kind of like how it was on 1.09.

Not sure if this is really a bug at all, but I guess I can try to help any little bit.

Also, I just about blew a socket there trying to figure out what just happened with the posts  ;D.

Thanks,

Hey, thanks for the quick reply.

I notice that the installer is only 79megs. If I moved that to my desktop without the active internet connection would that contain the entire game? Or would I have to download the extra packages again?

AI War Technical Support / [Solved] Impulse Archive error
« on: September 01, 2009, 02:34:02 AM »
Alright, hey guys, I'm new to these forums!

Anyways, I've got two computers, a XP desktop and a Vista laptop. ATM I don't have any internet connection of my own on account of the fact I recently moved in. Now I happen to be able to connect via a neighbors wireless connection which allows me to post here with my wireless laptop, but my desktop (which is the PC I use for gaming) is currently not connected to the internet at all. This causes a problem that I can't actually download AI War.

But no matter, I downloaded the demo (before buying it an hour later) on my laptop, then used a USB to move it over from my laptop to my desktop. Once I purchased the game, I used the serial that I aquired off of Impulse on my laptop via View Registration for my desktop. Then I realized that I have the 1.09 version on my PC and that the newest version is the 1.013. So, being all clever-like I made an archive of the 1.013 game from my laptop then transferred it to my PC and tried restoring it from there.

This is where the problem is, it seems to start trying to restore the archive, but then moments later the message comes up: something along the lines of unable to restore this archive. No error code or anything.

Now I realize the solution may very well be just to uninstall the 1.09 program, but I just wanted to make sure. Thanks alot for the help, I'll clarify anything if the need arises, take care. Also, I'll be around for 20 minutes or so, but then I'm going to go to sleep, it's 3:33a here, so I'll reply in the morning 10 hours from now.
