Wildfire --> Logi's Wildfire/Fire/Flame

Quote
There really was no Norse "god" of fire. There was Logi, who was of a race of sort of proto-giants who seems to have represented fire and whose name means "wildfire."

So Logi's name actually means wildfire.

Might be easier if we go with the other side of the board for that one.

"Prometheus's Big Whoopsie"? ;)

Perhaps Serial Killer could be changed to "Fanatic of (name)" where name is one of the greek/norse gods for whom it would seem logical (in a twisted sort of way, perhaps) for one of their devotees to go off the deep end in the direction of becoming a serial killer.

Or maybe something indicating a mythological killer, like "Recruiter for Hades" or "Rogue Valkyrie" or something.

Definitely some bacon reducing Woe is in order. That would be a Woe indeed.

Made me immediately think of:

Woe name: Legion
Woe effect: All pig farms destroyed

AI War / Re: Call for saves for 7.0/expansion trailer material

If I play any games that won't melt his CPU, I'll post them up.  Large battles are always fun to watch :)  Purple smoke and ozone are not :)
Haha, yea.  I believe he has a pretty capable rig for the recording, but a lot of that capacity's going to be going towards the actual, y'know, recording ;)  And the sort of slideshow your battles typically wind up looking like (at least, I assume they're low-framerate even on your beast) are fun when you know what's going on but probably wouldn't reflect well in a trailer.  Except for going next to the "can make your CPU melt!" selling point, of course.

Some scout starships out ahead may also help reveal the mines.  But yea, if you're not thinking about a particular threat it's at least 100x more likely to bite you in the rear ;)

AI War / Re: Champion Options

My biggest issue with champions in their current state is that nemesis champions remind me a lot of Hybrids
Interesting; their logic and mechanics are actually massively different, but I suppose you mean the "threat that comes after me even if I don't do anything" aspect?

AI War / Call for saves for 7.0/expansion trailer material
« on: Yesterday at 05:38:31 PM »
Hey everyone :)

Kevin-the-trailer-guy mentioned how some of the most interesting footage for AIW's last round of trailers came from player-submitted saves, and how he'd love to be able to that again (and moreso) this time around.

So if while playing you come across one of those "this is why I love AI War" moments, please post a save here and tell us where/how to find the particular awesomeness you had in mind.  You may find the keep-autosaves feature (and possibly a fairly frequent autosave interval) useful in this.

This seems to be the most popular trailer thus far among our core fans, btw: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Gr_oSOSTfbA
And here's our most recent one: http://store.steampowered.com/video/40400/82166

Some things we'd particularly like to highlight:
- "Smart" play by the AI.
- Interesting emergent interactions.
- Awesome battles (that don't chug Kevin's machine while he tries to record them ;) )
- Anything else that you think really highlights the good stuff you can get from AIW that you can't get anywhere else.

Suggestions for text and cinematography, etc are all welcome.

Let me know if you have any questions, and thanks :)

Awesome! Any idea/are you allowed to tell us the general pricepoint of the expansion? Thinking of buying like 10 copies for friends :P
Thanks for the support :)  List price will be $4.99 and I'm sure there'll be some kind of initial promotional discount.

Wow, between the mines and the cookie monster, everybody's being shut down ;)

Been a while since I saw the Mine Enthusiast provoke refleets with its hobby.  Feel free to send the mkI fighters ahead of your main group :)

AI War / AI War Beta 6.032 "Tumbleweeds In The Stars" Released!
« on: Yesterday at 04:29:51 PM »
(Crossposted from this blog post)

This one is the first non-hotfix release we've done since starting the private alpha of the upcoming Vengeance of the Machine expansion.

The release has a number of non-expansion changes that we hope help (we're particularly curious to hear how that target sorting performance improvement works out), but the main addition is the new "Showdown Devices" minor faction for the expansion.

Won't spoil the details on the faction for now, but we will mention the ultimate point of the faction: provide another alternate way to win, and an ultimate stalemate-breaker :)

Enjoy!

This is a standard update that you can download through the in-game updater itself, if you already have 4.000 or later. When you launch the game, you'll see the notice of the update having been found if you're connected to the Internet at the time. If you don't have 4.000 or later, you can download that here.

Okay here http://205.196.123.35/vd8nh6bwkgsg/bilxpm6x09fpeie/game7.sav it is. The command station is being built. The planet is Neicha, on the bottom left sub cluster.
When I run that, the green player can pick their ARS ship from the ARS tab of the science window on that planet.

The blue player cannot do this initially, but as soon as you build a science ship there (or move one there) you can use the ARS tab of the science window on that planet to pick your own type :)

Is that not working?

AI War / Re: Which role do you play as in AI War: Ancient Shadows?

I'll incorporate champions into alpha features and see how that goes.
Some cross-testing is of course good, but don't play with them if you don't want to.  There are plenty of testers who like champs and will do that naturally :)  And there are testers (and players in general) who don't like champs, and that's also fine.  I don't think it's the sort of feature which can have appeal to everyone in the crowd.

I just play on normal because the nemesis response completely demolished me the last time I played normal + champ.
I believe that was fixed in 6.031 :)
