Off Topic / Cargo Commander
« on: November 02, 2012, 05:28:45 PM »
This is a fun game if you are into Spelunky or a mixture of platformer and light roguelike elements.  There is also a whiff of AVWW mixed in there insofar as the worlds are randomly generated and you are trying to gut them of loot as fast as possible.

Here is an early review:  http://www.gamezebo.com/games/cargo-commander/review

Off Topic / SoTS 2 "All Clear" Issued
« on: October 19, 2012, 10:57:06 AM »
Look like the developers finally consider SoTS 2 a "release state" game: http://www.kerberos-productions.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=37&t=35604

Has anyone played it recently who can share impressions?  There have been weekly patches for a year now, so I wonder how it's shaped up.

A Valley Without Wind 1 & 2 / Out of Eight Review is Up
« on: April 22, 2012, 05:11:40 PM »
Hi guys, it looks like the first review is up.  Out of Eight gives it a very respectable (and rare for them) 7/8.

A Valley Without Wind 1 & 2 / Beta Keys on Steam
« on: April 19, 2012, 12:29:48 PM »
Any word about whether our beta keys will unlock the Steam version on Monday?  Or is that something that we'll have to wait a while for?

AVWW Technical Support / [RESOLVED] Framerate Issue
« on: March 25, 2012, 09:15:21 PM »
I have been playing AVWW for a while now but with the new feature that shows the framerate in the message window I have been able to confirm a dramatic fluctuation in my framerates that I don't think should be occurring given the demands of the game.  I am running a 2.4Ghz i5 450M with 6GB ram and a Radeon 5650m with 1 GB ram and the latest Catalyst drivers.  I have the game set on 1280X768 resolution.

I am currently fighting a Giant Blue Amoeba and my framerate  when it attacks drops to about 15 fps.  In forest areas I get about 24fps, and in deserts I can push around 35.  In buildings I usually fluctuate between 20-40fps, unless a lot of enemies are attacking in which case it drops to around 15.

Given the high demands of some of the 3D games I run, it strikes me as odd that I can barely push 30fps on AVWW with the resolution turned down.  Any thoughts as to why it is so choppy sometimes?  Is anyone else having these sorts of dramatic fluctuations?

A Valley Without Wind 1 & 2 / Controller or Keyboard?
« on: February 05, 2012, 01:37:39 PM »
Are more people playing this game with a controller or with a keyboard and mouse? If you've tried both, which do you prefer?  I was thinking about buying a controller for AVWW, but I hope to get some feedback before I do.

A Valley Without Wind 1 & 2 / Can't make it past the intro mission
« on: November 15, 2011, 06:44:51 PM »
I get past the first red blob, explore the apartment building, then get to the dungeon with the second red blob that is more powerful than the first and has a yellowish tint.  He then proceeds to burn me alive almost immediately, and none of the spells I have do significant damage to him.

Tidalis / Tidalis Bug?
« on: March 22, 2011, 09:18:38 PM »
The objective for level 42 of adventure mode, entitled "double trouble" reads: 0 of 1 line clear missing  LOCALIZATION: Levelobjective_ofBeforeEqualityLevelObjective_OfBeforeEquality >=2 lines.

I assume this is a bug because I have no idea what this level objective means, nor can I seem to clear the stage by clearing lines.

Tidalis / Ipad Version?
« on: March 19, 2011, 12:19:11 PM »

Is there any chance that you guys will port this to the new Ipad?  It seems like it'd be a perfect fit for the system, and the game is good enough to  develop a loyal following.  It is a shame these boards are so quiet because this is a very innovative puzzle game.

AI War Strategy Discussion / Looking for Late Game Tips
« on: February 20, 2011, 05:47:25 PM »
I am having great difficulty taking out any of the AI Core Planets, to say nothing of actually reaching the AI home planet.  Does anyone have any tips for how to take out a core planet in order to carve your way to the home planet?  Every time I try to take a core planet the AI floods it with a huge number of ships, completely overwhelming any attack I try to mount against it.  There is no AI eye on this planet.

A Valley Without Wind 1 & 2 / Consoles or mobile?

Given your recommendation of a game-pad, do I sense ambitions of a console or portable release?

AI War / Golems and Engineers
« on: February 02, 2011, 12:30:09 AM »
I can't figure out how to get engineers to stop auto-repairing Golems.  I see the option in the CTRLS menu, but no matter what number I set it to they always seem to auto repair.  Can someone help me figure out how to use this option properly?

A Valley Without Wind 1 & 2 / Input style?
« on: February 01, 2011, 05:02:38 PM »
Are the controls going to be mouse-driven, WASD, or controller driven?   All these comparisons to the 16-bit era make me think of controllers.

AI War / Steam Achievements Question
« on: January 24, 2011, 11:28:39 PM »
If you have the Steam version of AI War installed and you run the game outside of the Steam interface (using the .exe in the steam apps folder) and earn an achievement, will that achievement register on Steam the next time you start the game via the steam console?

AI War Strategy Discussion / Starting Planets
« on: January 16, 2011, 09:36:45 PM »
What are the advantages and disadvantages to picking multiple starting planets?  I have read that this does something to ship cap (maybe?) but I am not sure what.  If I am playing an 80 planet map should I pick more than one starting planet?
