I just rolled a game after months of not playing, and was going through the motions, getting stuff set up scouting, getting my fleet ready to start clearing out my mk 4 neighbor.  I sent in my full mk 1 fleet + 2 raid SS, checked to see how it was going a few seconds later, saw that there were no fighters. Huh. 1 at my homeworld... Did they ALL die?
Look back at the mk 4 neighbor and watch as the rest of my fleet was melted (including the raids) in a few more seocnds to the overlapping fire from 2 mk 4 guardposts. Wow. ...

"... Okay, buddy. *cranks knuckles* Let's do this."

It was pretty awesome. I think a lot of the recent changes are pretty great! Thanks Keith!

Old post is old, but I'm going to give a bit of an update. I went through a SERIOUS crush on this girl, but eventually it subsided and we're really awesome friends now. Without silly emotions interfering. It's actually rather refreshing :)

I'll hopefully have a reply for this thread about the different roles later today. Some interesting things being discussed, especially Katarina vs Diana vs Akali.

While these champs appear similar, they have different specialties, and more importantly, their laning potential is vastly different.
Akali is good against low cc champs who also cannot escape like gangplank, but is very bad against champs who can do aoe damage to creeps and push waves hard like rumble, morgana, or katarina.
Katarina is a great creep wave pusher, can poke and harass very effectively, and can hold her own against morgana, but does very poorly against champs with better mobility and burst, like kassadin or longer range, like Lux or Urgot.
Diana is okay at pushing waves, but is very good against low mobility champs, and has a shield which helps her turn around assassination attempts and survive ganks.

I agree, enigma's is really helpful with the new setup, the only problem is that you have to setup by champ, but the power it gives you is amazing!

Also, that pic is well named.

Off Topic / Sins of a Solar Empire - Rebellion tactics

So, while it was on sale, i picked up Sins - Rebellion. While i have a general idea of whats going on and what was good in normal Sins, I am having trouble figuring out what to focus on , so if any of you guys have any ideas and suggestions, I would appreciate it!

... I know that they have a forums, but I *like* the people here.

Its pretty unlikely that one of you won't feel a desire to pursue a more formal relationship from what you've said. I think you should wait for the opportune moment, act, and see what happens.

 However, no matter how much I want to give you advice on what to do, you have so much better information than I do. I hope stuff works out one way or the other, but either way that you both benefit from your friendship/whatever.

If the answer is yes, and it is reasonably low-cap(high individual dps), then ok.

If the answer is yes but it is high-cap (so low individual dps, and weak to eyes), then that is probably more annoying than it is worth with an eye involved.

If the answer is 'no' then please don't make OMDs in their natural habitat (under a forcefield/ spire shield guard post) any worse to deal with.

Brainstormings:

If people want to try crazy things, could we Keith just start adding some minor factions to implement the easiest changes. This would give us the ability to play with some crazy change without ruining newb or 'expected' gameplay.

An interesting nerf to harvesters with the new(ish) energy system is to just add large energy costs to higher mk harvesters (~5-10k for mk2, ~10-20k for mk3 per harvester) to force a trade-off for unlocking them. I lean high for the punishment to create decisions, if these are too high, they can obviously come down.

Champ unlocks on high AI level should lead to a greater offensive response, similar to the exo wave-responses that you get for spire cities.

Basically an EMP-guardian in train form. This is another one of the train types that's got way less hp and thus more feasible to destroy than others. If you have scouting on a planet with one of these, it shows up in the alert box.
