AI War / Re: Your favorite maps/# of planets?

Doomshrooms? Awesome. I smell another expansion- Plants V.s A.Is.

On topic, I usually sit at around 80 planet maps, simple, realistic or maze. My only completed game however (he says blushing) was on a spokes map.

Done again, and yes, it should be noted, the vote on the game page directs you to the voting area, it is not a vote in itself. Make sure to go to the RTS and family sections of the next page to vote properly.

And do all the tutorials first! They will help. A lot.

And like it's been said. Some options (hybrid hives, avenger, human colonies, marauders, preservation wardens etc. etc.) will increase the difficulty a fair amount.

If you are only interested in how much extra gameplay you'll get, Light of the Spire will probably just edge out the Zenith Remnant. Children of Niezul will fall well short in that regard. But bear in mind that the Light of the Spire expansion is not finished yet, on top of in my opinion being more complex for new players, and if you buy that, you will have access to the current build- which is a bit unbalanced and a bit buggy (no offence guys I know polish is coming next). It's not due for release for a couple of weeks yet. For a beginner, ZR still gets my vote. Light of the Spire is going to be awesome when it hits though.

If you want just one of the expansions (although with everything 60% off at the moment, it's a good time to get them all...) I would pick Zenith Remnant. It's the first expansion, has been out for a year and so is almost completely balanced (except for an ongoing discussion and work on the Golems), and is definitely the easier of the expansions to understand in terms of ship types. The two newer expansions are more out there in terms of new ship types, and add some new things that are designed to inject stuff into the game to make it more exciting for the people who know the ins and outs of the base game.

If you have a specific question about any of the expansions give us a shout.

Just my opinions by the way.

I think it does it sometimes if you lose a lot of ships in a short space of time? Like a failed assault on them or something? Maybe?

Already had it, but grabbed the pack anyway. I'll have done that with 3 of the 5 indie packs by the end of this sale. The deals are incredible, and some extra cash to devs of games I already own is fine by me. Especially if they happen to make a game I've logged hundreds of hours in.

I've never been able to get DK2 running properly since windows ME... But it taunts me by letting me pay a couple of levels then hitting a crash it never gets past. DK1 on the other hand, seems to work fine whatever I throw it onto... So all is not lost.

Anyone finding a massive reduction in the number planets with asteroids seeded? I'll make a mantis issue for it, just curious.

Sounds good, but I too am wondering about when these golem waves will start appearing? Will they be waiting for a couple of hours (as this is how long I would expect to wait to get a golem of my own? Or wait until a certain A.I progress point?

Spirecraft shouldn't be a problem, as asteroids are seeded next to home planet. Will the MK levels of the spirecraft that come in waves be tied to progress? I assume so.

Also, I think my question got missed in the last thread: RE the spire maw, does the internal attrition rate upgrade over the mark levels? And if so what sort of numbers are we looking at?

Looks good. Say, quick query. I just started a game (I say started, I just lost another game) with the maw as my extra ship. I was wondering, does the attrition rate inside them increase up the marks? If so what are the numbers?

Sounds fun, and I love the ideas of extra events and stuff. A Golem showing up in a wave occasionally sounds Fun.

Those spirecraft ideas, in fact, all the new ships in this expansion are incredibly interesting. Most updates we get I think there are a couple of units I am excited to try, but with this expansion everything sounds awesome.

That said, beachheads sound absolutely brutal. No turrets and no shield? Bye bye any planet I have. Probably including my homeworld... I think I'll need to rethink my set ups before my next match. Sounds fun though, don't get me wrong. Are fortresses included in the shutting down of everything?

My only annoyance with them was i sent one in to clear out a planet, it collected 200 ships. Then I realised about 80 of them were AOE immune frigates! Argh. Ah well, still very useful.

Sounds like a bug to me.

Have you posted it in Mantis?

See Winter Born's sig.

Wasn't going to, because Frigates are meant to be AOE immune. So I figured it wasn't a bug- just something you have to take into account.

Not far enough in the spire plot yet to tell you much about it, But built my first spirecraft last night. I don't usually like suicide ships, but I really like the martyr ships. Perfect for thinning down a world with a couple of hundred more ships than you want to fight. And four from an asteroid means it doesn't feel like a waste of a really limited resource. My only annoyance with them was i sent one in to clear out a planet, it collected 200 ships. Then I realised about 80 of them were AOE immune frigates! Argh. Ah well, still very useful.

I also think the icon for building the shield carrier spirecraft could do with a little tweaking. Because the ship obscures the red background it looks greyed out. I'll mantis it soon, as a little suggestion.
