I don't want to sound like a negative nancy...but I'm sort of wary about the difficulty rising even slightly over time. I mean if you can have infinite levels won't there be a point where "easy" now will be like "insane" difficulty and "insane" difficulty will be something frightful altogether?

As long as it stays consistent I'm fine but just something I'm wary about...

Just thinking, if you kill the overlord in the area does that mean nobody will come? It would be a bit weird for a dead overlord to be sending out the troupes.....or if you kill all the overlords in the surrounding areas and there isn't an active overlord for miles and that one decides to bother your current settlement miles away.

Nice update, the spells are looking good.

Plus it's nice that not everything costs blue shards. I was kind of grinding to a halt in that way because blue shards were so precious.

29 now. Got countless settlements and unlocked all crafting recipes that are currently in the game. I just killed my first overlord.

Is the game still fun?

Well I'm at level 32 now and there are still some things I haven't done. Like visit the magma flats and the
deep. (The Ocean too but I don't know if diving suits are available yet) Also I'm yet to defeat the overlord who I can't seem to find anywhere. There is probably a couple of things I haven't reached yet. (I heard one of the devs talking about a level 50 place)

Does anyone know if there is to be any survivors in the ocean, lava flat or the deep areas? (It would be pretty neat to discover lizard like fish people in the ocean.....although inviting them back to your settlement could be a problem.) Although I guess they could be able to survive on land too. (but maybe you'd have to build a structure in a settlement before they could join it....like some way of hydrating them.

It definitely pays to be daring, I spent a good while at first going up against bosses many levels below me.....but you really get nowhere quickly with that. Usually now I try to take on a boss either the same level as me or a level above or below me. If I pack enough health potions and try to stick close to the exits for emergency withdrawals it normally turns out well.

Except the dragons can be lethal with their fire breath. (It's particularly difficult to defeat them when they're guarding a resource and the end up walking around in the surface undergrounds where the battle area can be pretty tight)

Made some good progress since my last post.

Now level 26 and have six settlements. (Mahbakk, Lithaven, Ettavale, Dwingington, Auburo, Frosalke) Probably the last time I'll list them all. :P

As for spells I haven't really found many spellbooks out in the wild. Although I have level 3 ice cross which is doing me fine for the moment.

Killed a bunch of liuetenants, the amount of xp they give you is unreal. Can't imagine how much you'll get from killing an overlord!

Along with the usual sort of ancient artifacts like vases, necklaces, tomes and the like there could also be artifacts that would be like remnants of the old world. Some things that the people of the time took for granted but are now nearly non existant or not needed in this new world. (Like electrical items or car keys) (not great examples but you get what I mean)

It would be lovely if there was a boss that gave out blue shards.

Yeah I think it's the ice areas that give out the blue shards, I was just looking around the underground of the bronze age and it was all yellow shards lying around.

At least I know where to go for certain now.

Maybe since they're usually in ruins you could have ancient artifacts hidden in them? They could be like collectibles and would vary depending on what time region the maze is in.

Then you could have a building in your settlement screen called the "Museum" that you could put the artifacts/treasures you find on your journey. As for how it would effect your civilization.....well aside from happiness/morale boost there could always be some kind of "Culture Score" for a settlement....and things like a library or museum (with artifacts) bring that score up.

So my point is, rather than just putting standard heal potions and such....have really unusual and rare artifacts/treasures that you bring back to your settlement. Sort of like cultural trophies.

Also make it so no map shows at all when you're in a maze. So you really will be lost in them.

Are you actually running out of shards?  There's something like 1000 in each settlement's starting stockpile, and you can just take from the newer settlements and give it to the settlements you want to use them from.

At the moment I have around 100 blue shards (111 in one, 137 in the other) in both of my two settlements. I went underground recently and picked up some blue shards (before that I was around the 10-30 blue shards point in both settlements)

Maybe I'm just not going underground enough, I usually tend more towards the commodity towers, resources and evil outposts.

It might also just be me being a bit haphazard with clicking the end turn button, since the earlier version of the game I don't think it took up blue shards to go to the next turn.

What's the best place to find blue conciousness shards? It's only now when I'm starting to run out big time that I'm noticing I end up with other colours nearly the whole time. I explored some buildings earlier and I don't think I came across any blue shards. I don't think I got any for defeating bosses either....

I wish there was a way to convert one colour shard into another.....I have who knows how many of the other colours sitting around when I'm in desperate need for blue ones.

Also while I'm asking, if these shards are fragments of the people who didn't survive the transition....what do the colours mean in that regard? What makes one person who didn't survive be a blue shard and another person a green shard. Just curious.

Yeah, I haven't actually explored a maze yet.....because I had prior knowledge that there was only going to be one item in it.

Just doesn't seem worth it when I could make better use of my time exploring smaller rooms.

Just wondering how far people have gotten at this stage. (Your achievements) Also how many settlements are you in control of? How many lieutenants and overlords have you slain? (or is the number too high to count now?)

At the moment my civilization is level 17 and I have control of two settlements. An ice age settlement called "Mahbakk" (Mah-back) and a pre-industrial settlement called "Lithaven" (Leh-ta-ven) (They're my babies :3 [/sad])

I've only slain one lieutenant so far (tough battle he had over 100'000 HP :S) and I haven't defeated the overlord yet.

At the moment I regularly use Energy Pulse and Ice Cross as my main attacks. While I use ride the lightning and occasionally death touch to destroy gem veins.

The only thing that might be a bit annoying is, if time is constantly changing every time you make a move....

It's going to get irritating real quick when you have to drop everything you're doing just because a mob is moving in on one of your settlements.

You could help this a bit by perhaps training npcs to be soldiers/guards so that they could better protect the settlement themselves. Which would result in much less loss and danger. I mean it's kind of sad if a settlement needs you all the time to take care of them

Q: How do I build something that asks for 150 or 200 Time Units, when everyone has just 100 TU?

When you end the turn, the time units for each settler goes up a bit.

Edit: I have my own question now, what are sunstones and moonstones for? I collected two sunstones already but I don't seem to be able to use it for anything....
