ya i pretty much turned trains off from the beginning. before in 2.0 they were annoy as they would come through and harass you with the 2 billion health and there was not much to do about it but counter it or find the stations and kill them. now that they have these awful upgrades it makes them all the more annoying. im fairly certain i wont be playing with trains anytime soon unless they get an overhaul.

Why is it the Gatts completely ignore starships until everything else in the system has been killed off? they dont even shoot at them as they pass by. if there is some hidden strategy that they are trying to do by getting shot up by starships and not retaliating then i think they could use an upgrade to there logic because at present i dont see any good reason why they would behave like this.

a favorite of mine is getting 4 force fields and making a nice little box around an enemy wormhole, putting a couple lightning warheads in the box and then blowing up the enemy command station on the other side. i usually reserve this tactic for those systems that are packed with high mark units that have been reinforcing for a few hours.

once the ai start coming through the wormhole in mass they all get stuck in the shields and since there are a couple of warheads in there with them they will shoot the warheads first if there isnt anything else within range(besides the shields of course).

1 warhead is enough to kill everything except markIV bombers which is what the second warhead is for.

thousands of dead units for one low low price of just 1 or 2 AIP!

i think the whole self damaging plus AI progress for repairs is pretty dumb which is the only golems i will ever even consider to restore would be the hive and black widow golems.

in 15 minutes iv had about 500 units attack me from 1 SF captain at difficulty 8. im using 20 markIII basic and 20 markIII MLRS turrets and those are keeping the AI at bay for now. the trader came through also so i ordered a super fortress which should be done in about 5 hours.

EDIT: woah devourer passed through my system. good thing he didnt come near my commands station.

wow a 1000 ships? im against a pair of level 7 ai and im only getting maybe 100 ships at a time albeit very frequently.

game runs quite nice with that setup however increasing the game speed on 120 planet games doesn't actually make it go a lot faster. maybe its just me. :P

im playing against a special forces captain so iv got special forces patrols attacking me almost non stop. iv spent almost all my starting knowledge on high level turrets to keep me alive. so far iv set up a ring of mark III basic and MLRS turrets and some Mark I lasers to keep me covered. also using exo-shields.

you have only a few minutes to set anything up before the attacks start coming if your facing a special forces captain.

so how would someone go about surviving this? the presence of a special forces captain makes matters a bit worse too.

there is also no gravity so you can just pile on the armor.
