Interesting, thanks for the advice. I have found the eyes problematic. You think it would be worth it to unlock higher tier Raid Starships for that? I've got an Advanced Starship Constructor, so I could get to mk IV.
No problem, happy to help! But no, not unless the Mk I Raid Starships can't get the job done. Higher marks of Raid Starships might be good to have, but if Mk I's can do it, why unlock more?

Well, so is an artillery golem. It can take out an eye directly in around a half a minute.
Well, yeah. However, that requires you to actually have such a golem and that means dealing with exos. Which is a whole another challenge :P

You seem to be doing really fine there, so I'll only really comment on the thing people haven't mentioned:

Dealing with AI Eyes.
It's simple really. First off, try not to blob them, because once you outnumber the AI 2:1, they Eye will trigger. No matter what type of eye it is, it'll hurt. Second, don't try to kill the Eye. That's really really really really boring and often unnecessary. Once all the guard posts in the system is destroyed (including the stealth ones, though I think those are visible these days) it will self destruct. A far easier way to deal with it. Raid starships are great for Eye-assassination.

Game Development / Re: How did you do it? (The community that is)
« on: May 10, 2013, 01:44:55 PM »
Arcen is likely the only company where I would buy every game regardless of whether I intend to play it or not. Arcen is the very model of how a game company should be run with regards to its customers.

Now, I understand that it's absolutely not feasible for every company to be run this way. Bigger AAA studios simply do not have the time, nor the manpower, to interact with their fanbase on this level. That doesn't mean that I won't throw my money in their direction when they do ;)

I'm a moralist gamer, these days. My money goes towards what I feel is right. Arcen is the shining beacon in an endless sea of greed and selfishness, spotted with small islands of light. It might sound overly poetic, and it likely is, but my feelings for Arcen as a company are as close to "love" you can get in a customer/provider relationship.

You guys are awesome. Nuff said.

Skyward Collapse / Re: Let's Player Recommendations

About the only two LPers I watch (semi regularly maybe, if a vid interests me or is a game overview) are Jesse or TB.  Jesse doesn't seem like the sort to play skyward collapse, he's not much of a strategy player that I've seen.
That's a rather big understatement :D Also, TB would likely murder you for calling him a "Let's player" ;)

Well the tooltip still state you get the second mark and I thought that was for "capturing" but no hacking.
Reported. Thank you!

I am still encountering the bug where if you hack an ARS then click on the electric bomber then it would only unlock mark 1 instead of usual mark 2 a expected.

The ARS in question is at Matyaeo very close to where my "second hive golem" under construction is at.
The "Mark 2 for free" thing was changed in a recent beta. You no longer get the second mark for free. Instead you are awarded some spare knowledge. (In addition, mark knowledge costs have been lowered to compensate.)

Quote from: Patch notes
Advanced Research Stations now no longer give MkII of their bonus type for free, but:

They now grant 500 extra Knowledge immediately upon capture.

Not directly related to ARS's, but related to Knowledge balance: researching a MkIII triangle or bonus ship type now costs 4000 instead of 6000.

The idea being that we're no longer going to count "You get MkIVs of this type if you also have an advanced factory" when computing the cost of these. In theory that yields a cost of 3750 but we went with 4000 since mkIII units are slightly more than 1.5x as useful as MkIIs. We're not yet sure of whether to apply this same philosophical change to MkIII starship costs, as the balance of those is still very much in flux.

AI War / Re: Taunt/trigger thread for new expansion

AI loses a planet: "Insignificant."
AI launches an exo/superweapon: "We do not experience fear. But we understand how it affects you." (possibly bad, since Legion in Mass Effect says something akin that)

Not reading player A:
Abort, Retry, Fail?
That was freaking brilliant! I love it ^_^

While he's probably WAAAY too busy to have time for a proper series Jesse Cox is probably a good channel. But he's hugely popular, so I doubt he'll have time for "smaller" games. After all, it's his job.

I don't follow other Let's Players, mainly because so many of them suck horribly :P (Including me!)

42
Out of curiosity, which one of you voices the AI?
That would be Chris, AFAIK. Unless Pablo took over.

43
Zenith Bombards. By far. I think we all know what happened last time I met them.
in case you didnt know...
Oh my. That's a lot of zombards...

And to add something of actual value to thread; I can't, straight up, think of any bonus ship that aggrevates me more than any other. It's mostly just static buildings that do :P (Grav Drains, gah)

Off Topic / Re: Ender's Game: The movie

They seem to be misinterpreting Asa's comment--That it has "no significance to someone who has not read the books" as meaning that the actual scene and destruction of the Formic homeworld as being portrayed as just another explosion. In reality, unless I'm horribly horribly mistaken, he's merely talking about the studio's descision to show the destruction of the planet in the trailer--It's not so much of a spoiler because there's no context, so it looks like a generic explosion. He only says that it's insignificant in the trailer, not in the actual movie.
This sounds a lot more reasonable.
