A Valley Without Wind 1 & 2 / Re: Steam Keygen
« on: September 20, 2012, 05:23:41 AM »
My stand on piracy is pretty well known on this forum by now, but registering your key on Steam (actively blocking out a legit customer) is an even bigger dick move. :/

Recently unlocked a couple of other ships and I'm massively enjoying the Stealth Cruiser that starts with a Glaive Beam. Takes 25 seconds to power up...but damn it melts stuff xD

I don't want to sparkle the discussion "are rogue-likes too punishing?" again, we discussed it in a lot of details bordering on flame in another thread, but this is the issue I'm having with this game. You make a tiny little mistake and you have to start the sector from scratch as there is no way to recover.
And I don't like the WoW-style "respawn without penalty" either. It's down to a matter of taste. Roguelikes are for people who like that. Platformers are for platformers. It's as simple as that.

On an unrelated note, when a battle is over, ftl drive is charged instantaneously. Why won't they do instantaneous repairs as well (or something that amounts to it) It's really boring going over the ship and reaping everything one by one each time.  Even if you have a repair bot.
FTL charge has 0 impact on your next battle since it's going to have to recharge after the jump. It also does not instantly recharge if you're in a hazard zone (star, asteroid field or similar). Now, broken systems, wounded crew members and similar things does, however, carry over. Forgetting, or forgoing repairs for whatever reason, affects your next battle. This is particularly noticable when you have to bail out of a dangerous situation (such as a star frying you) and you have to deal with the remnants of that after the jump.

But I guess on Easy, it could instant-repair your ship after battle, but that would really take the entire charm out of it, as you would only ever risk losing on the boss ship unless you are completely terrible.

Just a question.. What in the name of god did you have on hand to fight all that. It must have been scary stuff.
Fallen Spire ships with 8 homeworlds is a beautiful thing.

And so the Topic Derail-Train strikes again. xD

In my case, FTL eats my life atm.

AI War Meeting Grounds / Re: New player looking for coop

You can also join the AI:War group on Steam and look around for players there. Most seem to play solo though, so that might be why it's difficult to find players for coop.

To me, the character and enemy design is the most important part, since I'll be "identifying" with my character and learn to "fear" my enemy. Good character design is what's most important to me, and Heavy Cat just didn't have that in the earlier mockups, but dayum that character model is spot on brilliant. I'm officially a convert :P

I'm also a new player looking to get into some COOP, I'd also be able to play some time in 17-23 GMT. You can message me on here if you're still looking for players.
Add me to Steam [Moonshinefox] and we'll pick you up whenever we run ours. It's not frightingly often, but feel free to tag along regardless!

I think the "shimmer" is quite enough of an indication. Platforms are platforms, and you can step on them in one of the dreams. Having them transparent and "shimmer" is just enough for me, I think. TB didn't seem to notice though, but I definitely saw it.

Yeah, as one of the biggest "haters" of Heavy Cat in the round up, I can only, yet again, point to my previous post in this thread.

Could be an idea. The easiest solution right now is to uninstall and just install a fresh if you come from anything 3.x

I must not like RPGs much then, because I grew bored of this game in less than two hours. About as long as I lasted in Baldur's Gate. NWN didn't even get me that far :/
