After having played a bit on Toll's server again, there were two feelings (for me) that cropped up about ECC's.

They feel exploitable on worlds where a lot of ECC's were already collected.
Just making a new character and picking up a single container fills your entire inventory (and on Tolls you can just clean out the inventory several times and do it all over again)

They were annoying me to the point of fearing running into another container.
I like to keep a clean inventory, if i dont need it it's out. (okay, it's not as clean as i might want it to be, but i'm trying)
Running into a single container and having it instantly fill my entire inventory? stuff of nightmares.

Personally, i'd love an option to not have containers turn into enchants 'unless your inventory is full' just so that i would be able to pick up containers to up the charge count for others without turning my own inventory into a mess, since i'm sort of doing my best to avoid touching them right now.
(is there a way to see how many full charges you have left to go? i'm kind of missing the 100%+ number right now, even if its just to tell me that i dont have a giant backlog waiting anymore).

Anyway i was wondering how others feel about the way ECC's work right now, am i alone on wanting my enchant inventory to not look like a big wall every time i open it?

Also, i was wondering how this works in combination with the rare enchant giving containers from the lieutenants / overlord, how does it queue picking up those if your inventory is full, and what does it do if you pick those up with a significant backlog (will it give you lots of rare enchants?)

I'm not sure what messed up your game, but it's not a fake 1.0 :) No, that is the real deal. :)

I suspect it might've been caused by it somehow skipping some patches in between (only showed 1 update both attempts) or not being compatible with my 0.500 install (when i freshly installed it)
Alternatively, it could be just my dumb luck again heh.

No worries. Hope you feel better!
Yeah i already am, thanks :)

Updating my game to the latest version kind of botched my game from the looks of it.
Uninstalling and reinstalling had the same problem, so now i'm redownloading the AVWW client and see if that fixes things.

I'll let you guys know in a bit if that solved things.

edit-
Solved it, though now i'm on version 1.000 already?
Hm, that also stops me from joining servers running on version 0.971
Starting to wonder if for some reason this fake 1.000 thing is what ruined my game in the first place when i tried updating it.

P.S.
Sorry about disappearing a couple weeks ago like i did and not really responding to the mantis stuff anymore.
RL injury + pain med made it impossible for me to play anything or for that matter sit behind my pc for a while.

Taking away options entirely doesn't benefit fun in any way.

What could be done is changing how the new continent is seeded (used a lot of fire based spells, now there's less desert or it doesnt spawn as close to the settlement for example).
That said, it's a solution only if it is really desired, its a lot of work without a lot of improvement IMO.

Who knows what the future might bring, if AVWW does well and they add a lot of new timeshards and spells we might have continents automatically lack availability to some shards just thanks to the variety.

I personally don't think they should change anything about this right now, i'm slowly starting to use new abilities and experiment aswell myself.
Kind of reminds me about that other topic, where they commented on how people are taught to do things in a certain way, like exploring every room in a building.
Its probably the same here with the spells, you don't need to use all of them straight away, and you shouldn't be forced to differentiate either.

I'd think preparing him for the future state the world will be in would be of more use to him.

That said, better stock up on crates or he's never going to be able to get out of those acid lakes when said time comes.  ;)

You'll just have to wait until we answer that in one of the mysteries! :)

In that case it's time for... speculation!

I'd make a guess that the reason the storms are present only on the continents is because of a difference between the age the oceans are from, and the age(s) of the shards of the continents are from, like a sort of 'hot/cold' front, only in this case it might be air-pressure, or differences in how the air is made up.

But obviously, they are going to prove me wrong, so i can't wait to see what their magical explanation is  :D

Welcome to AVWW :)

while in the settlement, there are two ways you can construct a building:
Go to the green ilari stone and press [E]
or alternatively press [V], go to Continent Status, then go to 'Guardian Power Scrolls', and finally click there.

If you are short on a material, or dont have any npc's in your settlement with the respective career at the respective level, you can right click on a building scroll to see what you are short.
To obtain Guardian Power Scrolls, you have to do missions (both worldmap visible missions, as secret missions).

All materials are automatically put in the settlement stockpile [C] and as such dont take up space in your inventory.
There is no limit on the amount of materials that i know of (there probably is one, but you'll either never hit it or by the time you do it wouldn't matter since you'd have such a huge surplus that you wouldnt know what to do with it anyhow).

You can't access buildings in the settlement at this moment, but thats alright since there isnt much use in doing so at the moment anyhow.
Spellgems can be remade at the spellcraft station at the level you have learned them at free of charge, learning them for the first time / upgrading them however does cost materials.
So you can drop those if you want to make room (not that you'd need it, i think you have around 100 slots of free room in your inventory, i dont even think there are that many usables to start with).

Enchants have their own inventory, 100 slots for storage, and 5 for wearing.
This storage can easily overflow, so ditch the ones you have better versions of / dont need.

To get rid of items in either inventory, just drag them out of the storage and drop them on the ground.

Did this answer your questions?

I hadn't worn a diluter enchant since before i fought the overlord in continent 4 (actually took it off prior to fighting the overlord because i wanted a torso implant from him. i got lucky, just not lucky enough (wasn't the one i wanted heh).

So i'd already logged out wearing the torso-seeker enchant and back in wearing the torso-seeker before ever visiting continent 5.
Maybe the desynch might've been related somehow?

Edit:
World is now at 760 cp
42 tier 2 orbs
3 tier 3 orbs
12 tier 4 orbs
0 tier 5 orbs

1 thing every fluke has in common, i hate to say... is me being on.
The only time tier 3 orbs were gained was when that mission was done while i wasnt present, the same for the tier 4 orbs.
For some reason either having me on the server (or more likely) having me in the mission... causes it to go bad.
Last couple missions i tried to do a bunch of things including:
switch out my torso-seeker and diluter 2 implant twice to see if it removed the tag (didn't work)
keep my head implant slot open entirely (didn't work)
my identity is silverhound (#38)
I really thought that either the diluter 2 implant somehow left the idea behind that i was still wearing it, or that the identity of the torso-seeker and diluter 2 implant had been switched under the engine, but thats not it either.

edit:
It's confirmed, i wasn't present in a mission when it was completed (from 760 cp to 800 cp) and this time it did give tier 5 orbs.

So, why is this happening to me? do those orbs really hate me? did i do something to offend them? or do i have a secret cult of tier 2 orb worshippers that kill off all other orbs and take over their place in secret?

Any chance you could tell us how many of them were tier 2 for you and how many tier 3? (alongside total CP)

edit:
Just went on the server myself,
on CP 520 there are:
27 tier 2 orbs
3 tier 3 orbs
9 tier 4 orbs
Double checked with another char who hasnt been there before, same result.

Also can now say with absolute certainty that the only two players present weren't wearing a diluter 2 enchant
I wasn't wearing one, and he didnt even have one yet, and when he finally got one he had no reason to put it on so its unused up to the point of this writing.

Okay, even more info coming up:

I just checked, and there were 24 tier 2 orbs with 3 abilities already at tier 2, so thats 27 tier 2 orbs.
for some reason those 12 orbs were shown to us at tier 3 when given, but the server considers them tier 2 orbs.

I wasnt using the tier 2 orb head implant, and as far as i know neither was the other player present.
Any reason the tier 2 orb head implant effect might've still be present?

added info:

We just did another mission (getting cp to 360)

Head back to the settlement, he tries to upgrade once, still has the same problem with not actually upgrading, i log out and in. no tier 3 orbs at all.
my guess:
For some reason they are only shown on our end, and not on the server's end.

Tier orb bug made a re-appearance.
this time with tier 3 orbs.

I think there might be something else going on, havent gotten any tier 3 abilities yet, i'm at the crafting station, its showing miasma whip 3 as available, i click to use it. its still there, i click again, still there, i click a third time, still there.
I leave the game, rejoin

No Tier 3 orbs in my possession anymore.

Here's the thing though, i havent gotten any abilities to tier 3 (i havent even got more than 2 of em to tier 2).
The only other player present this entire time didnt upgrade any abilities to tier 3 either (and ran into the same problem i had, also clicked 3 times trying to upgrade).

So, not only are the Tier orbs being used up for everyone, but they arent actually making any spells either.

Continent is at 320 cp, so we should've had 9 orbs each, we got the continent from 0 cp to 320 cp without seeing any other players so it couldnt have been involvement of a third either.

Haha, i suppose their behaviour indeed does :P

Anyway, i was just talking about the animation of throwing it on their shoulder, its a pretty big staff, and holding it like a rifle just comes across as a little weird to me.
If you want to place the weight properly, you'd be more inclined to throw it on your shoulder and fire it, also would allow you to keep one hand in the same position as you would when holding it like a melee weapon, unlike when its a rifle (you end up turning your left hand 180 degrees), and sliding the right hand more towards the middle.
