nah you can scout. I'm pretty sure the AI planets get set to alert status when you are next to them.

As a matter of fact if i start a new game with full visibility it happens every time except if the AI happens to be experimentalist (in which case he has experimental ships) and possibly other AI types with certain ships.

Could somebody else try and confirm this to make sure its not something on my side? (whether it's me doing something stupid or maybe due to specific setting)

I spend enough time debugging my own projects.. As much as i want to support Arcen (and will when I notice something) I'd kinda like to not have to worry about bug hunting when I'm not working on my own games :P

That being said it's my fault for starting the betas ^^

I don't know what would be good because I havnt managed to play enough but they were way to hard before the nerf.

20 mins to kill a few is a bit extreme ^^

Reload Time from 4 seconds to 3 seconds.
Armor from 15,000 to 3,000/3,200/3,400/3,600/4,000 for I/II/III/IV/V.

I'm starting to think it may be a bug.. I just havnt posted it on mantis because im not sure... But I havnt seen a single different ship type yet. When i hold the mouse over enemy planets the only things there are Fighters, Bombers, Frigates, Guardians and Stealthed (Prob because of the Camouflage AI type.. I forgot that it isn't tag teamer :P )

If somebody else has started a game with 4.29 and could see if they have the same thing it would be cool

I think I once read that the AI like the player gets the 3(4) basic ship types plus one or more types. Of course some AI's also have special ships only available to them and others always start with specific types.

Also if i recall correctly they also *unlock* ships as the game progresses.

Now I'm just asking because in my current game both AI's (Tag Teamer & Shield Ninny) are only using the basic ships from what I can tell (plus guardians) both to defend their planet and in waves... its getting kind of boring :P

I remember in previous versions the AI would send waves with a wide array of ships (i play with schizo on) and the planets would be defended with different ships

So far every single wave in this game has consisted of frigates, bombers and fighters and all planets are only defending with the same 3 (+ guardians) :(

I understand how they work except that it seems the game also counts them as a warp gate which isnt explained in the wiki.

When destroying a warp gate on a planet it was still listed as a hostile wormhole (the color of the name doesnt change)
I hover my mouse over the eye and it says Warp Gate[Full - AI Only]

So are they warp gates? Can I bee attacked from the corresponding wormhole if i leave it 'alive'?

To bad they dont do what they are supposed to (again as far as i can tell)

edit: ok could it be that its not working due to ship cap? can you only take over ships until you hit your cap?

Guess ill test it now

edit: lol well after killing all my ships it worked.. now i feel like a tool.

I was mixing them with standard units.

also my leech starships arnt taking over anything either... Arnt they supposed to mark multiple targets (up to 40 if i recall correctly) and when the marked ships explode they become yours?

Or are the leech ships maybe not piercing through the armor and therefore not causing any damage?

edit: started a new game and made some leeches. they were working. Maybe the ships are just getting destroyed right after being reclaimed in my other game :P

edit again: *sigh*  I sent 3 leeches towards a frigate.. They fired at it multiple times and damaged it. It was then destroyed by a different ship and definitely didnt become mine..

I'm confused

Ok so I dont misunderstand it then.. but i could swear that i didnt take over a single ship with them when i had selected them as my starting special ship.. Maybe I just didnt see the switch but meh.
