Regenerator Golem. Nothing says a march to an AI Homeworld like 100+ Spire Frigates, a Regenerator Golem, and a few spare MKIII teleporting engineers. This was -before- the buffs granting self-regeneration, vampirism, doubled health, and halved 'build cost' (impacting repair).

After that comes the Cursed Golem, Black Widow Golem, and finally the Armored Golem.

Artillery, Botnet, and Hive golems are certainly useful (four-shot an eye anyone?), but not especially 'fun' for my style. There is just something particularily satisfying about Touhou-style bullet swarms, mass thievery, and just waltzing up to troublesome guardposts in heavily fortified AI Eye-guarded systems albeit after slipping past the fleetship frontlines. I haven't had the opportunity to try out armored since the new guard posts, though, except for one game where the initial guardian unlocks included implosion (implosion everywhere, implosion dire guardians... golems go defense). Plus that AI was a bouncer, so  I got extra Implosion Guardians.

Deprioritizing immobile units for immobile tractors certainly seems a better option than ignoring them, if it wasn't for the targeting "pacing", which complicates the issue.

There is already a rule the makes mobile tractors still tractor engine dead units. However, as the tractor module is immobile (despite being attached to a mobile ship), I think it slips past this rule.

Sounds like a lot of your module unit code ought to be referring to the host unit, instead of the unit itself. Otherwise you have to write a ton of exceptions

Just a dream of mine. If such a game already exists somewhere out there in the tinternets then I'm all ears.

Rogue Legacy

You're welcome.  :D

I was looking for something a little more like Double Dragon/Streets of Rage rather than a platformer, but this does look cool. Thanks for the heads up!

You know sometimes I think maybe I've been playing this game too much when I see the Zenith Hydra and somehow don't feel that anything is unusual or off at all anymore.

I like how the game is abstract enough that stuff like that can seem totally normal. I feel like AI War could suddenly have bear cavalry and then justify it as "SPACE BEAR CAVALRY!!!" and it could totally work, and I think that's awesome.  :P

Are there any units you find especially amusing/strange/funny?
