| Description | New game mode where even more bad events happen and you need to work to keep all races in the game without them killing each other. Points awarded for ship and population deaths. Could also be done with fewer races, or more planets (some uncolonized at start) Becomes more of an exercise in balance. But what about victory conditions... Survive for 100 years and a Federation is formed automatically due to the impending invasion of the Spire fleet? :-D You could have different campaigns with different races/difficulty/length. | ||||

A modification of this idea: The federation has been formed, now it is up to the player (another surviving Hyrdral) to destroy it. "There is another Hydral, and I am she! The traitor thought he was the last of our race but he was not, and I have watched from the shadows as he humiliated himself, seeking not revenge but peace with these wretched, alien beings. His idealistic fervor to form a Federation was foolish and bound to fail, or so I thought. Even now as my sensors detect his exit from our solar stage I rise to act at last! What he has built I will tear down! The Hydrals will finally be avenged! This WILL BE the LAST Federation!" |

That sounds pretty sweet too. It could even be like CK2 to EU4 converter where you could continue a save that you had created with the base game, and then destroy your own federation in the expansion. |
