Summary0015055: Planet holds out against attack for twenty-five years
Description25,000 space power (according to the solar map and the bombardment tooltip; the racial power grid thinks it's about half that) in the hands of the Peltians, with all three of their racial 5x bombardment techs, can only bombard about 315,600 people a day on the Burlust homeworld with only two bomb shelters left.

I know it's the Burlusts, so the Skylaxian ground attack is going to have a lot of trouble, but surviving under constant bombardment and attack for twenty-five years is excessive. It's the last unallied planet in the solar system, so the Skylaxians and Peltians are able to focus their full attention on it. Even after removing most of the bomb shelters, the invaders can't even manage to remove Burlusts at the rate of twenty million every month. Starting at billions, that means it's guaranteed to take a very long time to move through a planet, even though the Peltians have a decent-sized fleet bombarding the heck out of the planet with all three of their 5x bombing damage techs.

I'm attaching a save ten years into the fight where the conquest is still pretty far off, but most of the bomb shelters are already gone.

I'll note that it isn't always like this. I've had, earlier on the calendar in another game, the Skylaxians capable of dropping two million enemies in ground combat every day on their own. However, there's little visible information to tell me what's so different between the two games. The Peltians should also be capable of a lot more damage than this.

Disagree , if you research futher bomb tech and ground combat tech, you can still take Burlust planet easily .

The Skylaxians can't bomb, and the Peltians have all three of their 5x bombardment power techs. The question is why the Peltians, with what the solar map thinks is 25,000 power (but the racial power grid probably thinks is more like 12,000) can only kill 315,600 people a day.

One of two things is happening: either a normal armada that size could only kill 2,600 people a day, or the Peltians aren't getting their bombardment bonus in this attack for some reason.

I generally will focus remove Environment and Health as well,bomb shelters they are too fast to rebuild one

Only two bomb shelters left in the posted save, and they quickly got sabotaged afterwards, and Environment/Health shouldn't matter much as the birth rate is capped at the natural death rate.

I've seen planets fall a lot more quickly than this. I'm just in a really confused place grasping for why the heck it could have taken twenty-five years for a planet to fall to a sizable attack which included a significant Peltian contingent.

I know this one , if they combine force and try to take one planet together(in your case Peltians and Skylaxians) they cant all go land battle for some reasons.Also now the maximum size of land power is related to numbers of armada in this planet

Also saw that in your save, Skylaxian should learn all Ground military tech , this will increase the battle effectiveness from 819m to 2b, you will see the difference

Finished in 10 years doing nothing but researching for Skylaxians and still had a fair bit left to improve. No research will make it take forever.

You have to realize that the attack has already been going on for ten years at this point. Is no one else weirded out by how ineffectual the Peltian bombardment is? Just me?

Really, look at what you're saying: "yeah, I can increase their damage rate by 50% by making the Skylaxians 50% better at ground combat." When there's a significant Peltian fleet in orbit around the planet.

I would say , if burlust own a good planet its impossible to defeat him in early game. I think thats why burlust is the "evil" side ,but your side is winning, why not pressure them to join fed?

Well, by the time I realized the planet was going nowhere fast, I had already lost a lot of influence with the Burlusts. Also, the most evil of all developments in gaming beckoned: I wanted the Federation For Safety achievement.

I don't think so but some are prerequisites for other upgrades.

What do you mean "if" I had upgraded them? They have their three 5x techs. That's fully upgraded.

You haven't upgraded ship power/production rate. The power of the fleet is extremely low for that late in the game.

I don't have the save from the end of the game, but they ended up plateauing. Despite me destroying the defense cannons and swatting enemy ships from the sky, they never put much effort into building ships, even though I tried to keep the "double warship production" buff active on their planets.

Just a thought (haven't messed with your save), but did you try duelling the prime? I seem to remember reading somewhere that while under the turmoil, bomb shelters, etc don't help them any more.

There are only two bomb shelters left, and the Burlusts are kind enough to provide me with ships to destroy to get the money to destroy the others soon enough.

Again, the more I think about it the more I become convinced that the Peltians are throwing a lot less heat than they really should. If a Peltian armada is 860 space power, that means each armada is ending about 10,000 lives a day. Which means a race that *didn't* get 125x bombing power couldn't even manage 100 lives a day with an armada. We both know that isn't true.
