Summary0015830: Combat: Predicted DPS seems to be way off?
DescriptionI might be wrong on this but I am fairly sure that the actual damage inflicted between turns is much higher than what the amount of DPS times the number of seconds between turns suggests.

Something off since the projectile speed boost maybe?

I noticed this during a Burlust Duel.

Bear in mind that a turn is 2.5 seconds, and DPS is thus a lot lower than that. Does that match what you're seeing?

Additionally, that's assuming that EVERY shot fired during that time actually hits.

As I said the damage inflicted during a 2.5 second turn seems to be too *high* to me, like in 11.000 DPS creating more like 100.000 damage in 2.5 seconds instead of roughly 30.000 (just given a rough indication of magnitude here)...

I just tested with your save:

Weapon # 1 (minigun, I think) did pretty much exactly what I expected based on the DPS * 2.5.

Weapon # 3 (grav lance) did similarly

Weapon # 2 (energy something-or-other) did about 4x the DPS*2.5 value, but that's because (as the description mentions) that weapon does 4x vs shields and the enemy's shields were still up.


Do you have any other cases where the numbers look off?

Ah okay. This is likely what I saw - I totally forgot about the shield damage bonus = /..

I just retested this and inflicted about 302000 damage using a (more or less) full hit salvo of the energy blaster.

The nominal DPS has been 37800.
37800 * 4 * 2.5 = 378000

Seems good enough to me ;).

As sidenote: Since the turn duration is more or less fixed (IIRC) wouldn't it be reasonable to give damage as DPT (i.e. damage per turn) instead of DPS? Would be less confusing too me, I think...
