Summary0016908: Low-tier/non-aggressive rogues early on.
DescriptionIt might make the early game bit more interesting if rogues of some less dangerous sort showed up earlier on, it would also let the player know that they are a thing that can exist faster.

As for what they do if they aren't just killing you or moving around maybe they could terraform some tiles and move resources around a bit or occasionally buff or de-buff a tile/building in some way(increasing or decreasing energy consumption is first idea I can think of). But maybe just having them mull around as easy to kill non-aggressive baby rogues that can later grow up would be interesting enough.

Note I haven't actually seen rogues that often so other than that they seem to attack random buildings I don't know too much about how they currently work.

After rather suddenly having 2 anzhousas attacking me I'm starting to think that they could also use some sort of warp-in equivalent or something to let me prepare for them and maybe baby versions that enrage the planet a lot more when killed or something would work for that.

There needs to be some incentive to maintain a basic level of military preparedness, otherwise it becomes a thing you ignore until you get a warning and then frantically build where you need it. The tradeoff between building guns now and building production to have more guns later is one of the things that makes the game interesting.

Hmm, I'm not sure I agree. What is basic level of military preparedness and what is interesting about the decision to have it? Just the fact that it's a gamble if you decide to not do it(assuming you don't feel like save scumming)? And if you do decide to just cover everything with 3 kinds of interceptors it's just a thing you do without much thought.
Also the idea that not building guns now would be to have more guns later on seems little weird isn't it that you don't build guns early to have fewer guns later on.
I think making the decision of what to do when you do get a warning more interesting would be lot better, you could try to talk your way out of it, hope or ask that someone else takes care of it or just build frantically and even then figuring out how much and what you need to build is something you need to decide.

Planetary Rage is your warning about how dangerous things are coming. Its just that the monster generation isn't high enough yet so we ignore it. Also the http://www.arcengames.com/mantisbt/view.php?id=16914 has some related ideas about making the early game military experience less jarring.
