Summary0006041: Getting trapped from ducking and sliding
DescriptionDuck-sliding allows you to slip through a one-unit-high gap into the area beyond. The room layouts are usually such that the area beyond is lower than the area you came from, however, so you are unable to get back through the gap the way you came through it. If you can turn into a bat or have the miniaturize spell, this isn't a problem, but if you don't, then you are quite possibly stuck there with no way out.

I realise this may be an intentional thing, like falling into a hole without double jump or platforms to get back out, but I just wanted to make sure, since it seems like it may have been an unintended side-effect of the ducking changes.

Yep, there's another issue on mantis already about this -- it is indeed intended.

Couldn't find the other issue.

I think this one's going to cause trouble. There's no warning of danger here, and it's easy to accidentally storm dash, then duck-slide (for a really long range slide), and then get stuck. I suggest removing the duck-slide ability. Playing around with duck quickly teaches you that it's a purely defensive move, and I don't think duck-sliding is necessary. If you want to explore nooks and crannies, use a transformative spell.

Good point!

* The "sliding while ducking" feature, despite being something that a lot of players really like, has been removed as a general feature.
** This was something that, in inexperienced hands, was far too easy to trap a player in a small hold that they could slide into but then not walk out of, etc.
** Thanks to Bluddy for suggesting.

* A new "Powerslide" enchant type can now be found and applied to your legs.
** This gives back the "sliding while ducking" ability for players who find it and want to use it -- therefore, those players keen to have that ability still can, but newbies don't get bitten by it.
